That current mud pit field nearly derailed the LW East run to the state title..with this in place, all of the schools in the newly formed DuKane Conference will have field turf...interesting points in the article concerning the financing of this project as well....Congrats to the Saints!

There was a time when having turf was a big advantage to the few teams which had turf.

Aurora Christian put in turf for the 2008 season. Very few schools (especially in class 3A) had turf in 2008. AC had “turf speed” which few other schools could compete with. It was both a real and psychological advantage.

I think the shift has come nearly full circle, at least with larger school programs who can afford to install turf. Teams are forgetting how to play on natural grass surfaces - especially when those grass fields become wet and muddy. Teams familiar with the nuance of grass fields will hold advantage over the majority of teams who have elected to install turf.
