How many picks? And that one before going up 19-7, was that ruled a pick? Looked like CC caught it out of the air.

R-B looked pretty good today vs IC. Looks like they’ve developed a decent pass game.

Coal City just had a little too much up front today. SF with way too many turnovers. Though SF would try to run a bit more. And I thought Coal City would try to pass a bit more. I was way off. Coal City has a grinding run game. With IC out I think Coal City can beat RB next week.

Jezik flagged for taunting on td run

From the Daily-Journal:

The Oklahoma State wrestling commit was flagged for a taunting penalty at the end of the run, but Jezik said he contemplated kneeling at the one-yard line to run out the clock before changing his mind, which resulted in what looked like a taunt.

“I was going to stop and kneel at the one, but I turned around and saw six guys there and knew I was going to get smoked so I had to speed up and get back in there," Jezik said. "It looked that way, but that wasn’t the intention. They’re a great team that played a great game and I didn’t mean any disrespect.”

When I was watching the play Live that's exactly what I thought I saw. Jezik hesitated right about the 4-5 yard line as if to say "Oops! Maybe we don't want to score this fast."

I couldn't tell from the Live stream what penalty they were calling but stopped caring when they said the TD was good. I was wondering why Jezik looked upset and was basically being guided away by teammates. Now it makes sense.

Here's a video of it...didn't really think it was taunting, but the refs are down there in the action and made the call. I did see that after the extra point attempt the Coal City head coach called everbody over and gave a lengthy talk.I'm sure it was to tell the kids to play smart and clean and not let things get out of hand. There was a big hit by a Coal City player on a St Francis player soon after and the Coal City player helped him up and both patted each other on the back after the play....Nice to see

Taunting? Really? Oh well the game's over.

Now I've seen it from 2 different angles and it seems extremely obvious what was going through Jezik's head and why he hesitated.

I really believe that he wasn’t taunting but I can see why the refs called it. Really good game, was surprised to see Rittenhouse warning up and playing after his coach said he would maybe be ready to go by the finals. But he’s a legit QB. Made some big throws. CC was just to physical for them

CC played well. It was fun to watch, especially after cutting bait on the game in Byron. Congrats and good luck next week! R-B looked really good too, very similar to CC.

What happened in the Wilmington game? I figured it would be a much closer game

Byron dominated the LOS and was just better. Lots of slipping and sliding for our guys. Byron was one cut and go, their RBs seemed unaffected. I was surprised to not see more I formation as they’ve used that in the past, but typically against D lines they think they can overpower. Byron is not that team. Dry track Wilmington might have had a better chance of putting up a score or two but Byron was clearly just flat out better on both sides of the ball. Byron would have won wet, dry or on the moon.

Still a good season by the Cats, quarter final run is nothing to be ashamed of. Byron seems like the 3A favorite

Yep, Reents and crew keep it going. Very good season. Byron looked really good. I’d say they are the favorites, but I think they will get tested.
Best of luck! I can confidently say that all the Wilmington fans I know will be rooting for the Coalers the rest of the way.

Next Saturday is going to be a slugfest. Going to be a low scoring physical game. It will be very similar to the quarter final game from last year. Except hopefully CC can pull this one out. Playing Wilmington and Peotone helps CC prepare for their offense although they pass a little more than Wilmington and Peotone

Watched them yesterday a bit. Physically they look like they can match up. Their defense was similar to you guys, they got good push up front and were flying around making plays. They shut down Franklin pretty well also.
Offense dub wing mostly but not with the orbital motion like Wilmington. FB is a beast, another RB has good speed, and they threw it pretty well too.
Should be a great game.

From the visitors bleachers it looked like he was slowing down and pointing at the Spartans with his right hand...I believe the ref running down the sideline threw the flag, so that was the angle he had. But from the end zone angle clearly not...Not many kids running in like that would stop so they could run the clock out...with 2 1/2 minutes to play.

I think he momentarily considered going out of bounds around 2-3 yard line. At least that's what I thought from the 2 angles I saw.
