Joe Lepsche from St. Thomas University in Minnesota.

Lets hope he can build a winner and keep us a winner.

Great hire by St Francis. Joe has been the O line coach at DIII power St Thomas for 4 years now. Knew he'd be in high demand as a head coach at some point and very happy for him the opportunity is now.

Joe is a coach of impeccable character and excellent developer of young men. He's recruited the Chicago area the last few years so he's familiar with the power programs and what it takes.

Keep and eye on this hire, he's very good.

Isn't it customary for college coaches to aspire rising through the college ranks instead of dropping down to the HS level? Just throwing that out there.

My personal opinion - being head coach of a fine school like St. Francis is more desirable than the grind of being a position coach in a DIII football program. Competing for a weeding through DIII football prospects is tough work. HS football head coach seems more stable, not as stressful, better quality of life.

Wish him well at SFHS. Beautiful facilities, lots of great families in the Wheaton area.

SIU,

I am not sure yet. From what I know he was a fullback at St. Thomas and has been working with the offensive line for 5 years. I'm trying to get some info in it and will get back to you.

St Thomas was heavy on the run last year, but that had more to do with having All Americans at running back and right tackle. Prior to that, St Thomas had a fairly balanced offsense and ran most offensive sets out of shotgun. The head coach was the offensive coordinator and called the shots. It'll be interesting to see what Coach Lepsche dials up as an offensive philosophy.

WM,

Yeah I hear from a few people he plans on spread and under center. I saw a bio on him and it looks like the only worked with the line but I am hoping he will call an offense the kids have been running.

got to go with what your strengths are....

One other note....Coach Lepsche was also the recruiting coordinator at St Thomas as was phenomenal in that role. UST's had stellar classes the last 3-4 years and for that he will be sorely missed up in St. Paul. I'll be the first to admit I don't know how it works these days at the private high school level and recruiting, but he'll get great kids at SF.
