Agreed. With Mo and Lowe playing and JQ most likely logging a few minutes I think we win this one way more often than not. Fans gave up on this squad way too early when we haven’t been healthy at all this season. Sure we have holes in the lineup etc etc but overall we have a team who can and should beat St Johns and finish top 3 in SEC.
It is not that we have given up too early or any at all. Our problem is kinda funny. Our fans are now celebrating that we beat at home a pretty bad team that isn't and wasn't ranked. In my lifetime, it is the first time I have seen this excitement over beating a bad unranked team in Rupp. Please enlighten me, what did beating Indiana proved about this team. We still have Pope strolling the sideline.

Define a "pretty bad team".

A team that's 26th in Kenpom is not a "pretty bad team"

Why do we always do this. Why do we diminish things making our win look worse than it actually was.

Yea.....they aren't ranked. Yes the game was in Rupp. Yes we were favored. Yes we should have won. But we beat them by double digits and other than the horrible shooting looked pretty good in doing so.

You ae exactly the fan type I am laughing about. I have been an avid KY fan since I graduated in 1968. No where or at no time would I get all excited about beating a team at home that was on the level of Indiana. I certainly can remember a few years that we could not beat a team on the level of this Indiana team but the fan base always expected better effort than what Pope has put on the floor since his arrival. Last year was fair, this year is unacceptable at UK. Plain and simple, UNCEPTABLE. Pope can't motivate and certainly lacks the ability to recruit pieces and parts to make a team. Five talented players does not make a winning team. Tom Izzo is the best coach in America in building a team. He never has the best players but he always has kids that can play together. He can assemble a "team." Come March, the team you do not want in your bracket is a Tom Izzo coached team. Tom could take his team and kickour butt. Give Izzo two weeks with our players and he could beat the MSU team that kicked our butt 83 - 66 earlier this year.

What do you guys think the score will be Saturday? I think we will need a big game from Lowe in this one. However, I think we drop this one.
St. John's 88
Kentucky 81
Can’t afford to lose this game.

no but they have a good coach who is going to make it very difficult for us and its already pretty difficult for us as it is

I thought the same as you, Pitino will have them fired up, and they will be tough if we don't come aggressive to start the game. This will be a good gage for our toughness.

Pitino’s strength as a coach has always been scouting and preparation.

Popes biggest weakness as a coach is scouting and preparation.

That doesn’t bode well for us.

Just checked. St John’s played Tuesday

So that gives Pitino a little less time to prepare.

You can "laugh" all you want. It doesn't make Indiana a "pretty bad team".

And if you can't get excited about a double digit win over a rival, that's on you.

Earlier in the week, Google's AI told me Kentucky won the game. No score given, but Kentucky won a hard fought game in the last few minutes. Good old AI.

Rolling my eyes at some predicting us to score 80-upper 90’s. Will be lucky to get 60. 67-59 St. John’s.

Kentucky - 68

Even if Rick wasn’t coaching SJ I’d predict a loss but with him coaching I feel like it seals the deal. I just have the feeling Pope will always have a hard time ever beating Pitino.

It's a must win game for UK with an almost sure loss upcoming at alabama to start sec play. We can't start the season 8 and freaking 6.

That said, I think Pitino wins. It will be close as he won't want to embarrass Pope.

Circumstances are set up well for Rick to win by about 8 points:
  • Crowd will be into it but will not be highly charged because they don’t hate Pitino anymore and there’s not much to love about this Kentucky team.
  • Master vs student. Rick knows what Mark doesn’t know, way more than Mark knows what Rick doesn’t know.
  • If Rick wants the Kentucky job should Mark lose it, this is his job interview and he knows it.
He won’t want to bury Mark and doesn’t really have the horses for it anyway. But I think he’ll try to win by 12 to 15 points and his team will be a little too gassed by the end to quite do that.

Did people forget how awful we were against Gonzaga, UNC, Michigan state, and Louisville. How bad the 1st half against Indiana was? We've played one good half of basketball in 10 games.
