CG is has definitely improved a great deal since starting 0-2, as they have matured and gotten Abrams healthy, What about St Pat's? The only team that they beat with a winning record was Wauconda in the 1st round. Anyone with any insight on what we are going to see on Saturday? Weather could be an issue, cold and rainy is the forecast.

Pats can definitely run the ball. I saw them play Wauconda, who they were much bigger than. Their QB does not make many mistakes, at least from what I can see. Pats biggest downfall seemed to be dumb penalties, especially on defense. I think this is a close game, especially if weather is a factor and Pats can avoid penalties on key plays in the game.

St Pats is big up front on both sides of the football. QB Gardner can sling the ball and be a factor for the Shamrocks. Penalties need to be corrected and avoided down the stretch. Shamrocks are a scrappy group regardless of teams they may or may not have beat with winning records, it’s the playoffs now records don’t matter.

I'm thinking Cary-Grove by about 21 points.

The Purple Division of the CCL/ESCC, which St. Patrick plays in, is the fifth best of the six divisions. However, based on first-round scores and the fact that Cary-Grove and Prairie Ridge did not dominate the Fox Valley Conference in the manner they have done in years past, I'm guessing the top half of the Fox Valley is down a bit this year. So, while I might have said Cary-Grove by 35 points in past years, I will reduce the expectations and say 21 points this year.

They had no bad losses (Rita, Rice, Laurence, Yorkville by 7 in Week 1). They seem to be a better than average 5-4 team that definitely belongs in the playoffs. I'm really interested to see how they matchup against Cary Grove.

I would use “impressive wins” over “bad losses” as a measuring stick. I want to say that losing to a powerhouse like BR or Rita is never a “bad loss” but the score of the game can still make it feel like a really bad loss. Neither of those game scores were respectable (at the end of the first quarter).
