First off, congrats to Brother Rice on winning the 7A Championship. All year, they dominated and just showed how good they really were. For me, BR was the second-best team in the state.

What a rollercoaster of a ride for the '25 Mustangs. Kids struggled early, were held accountable by their coaches and came together in the end with their amazing run to the 7A State Finals. Credit to the Mustangs for keeping the BR game within striking range, until the late Q4 TD.

I think SR will be playing the following CCL schools next year. I could be wrong: Leo, Montini, SF, Naz, Iggy, Benet & LA. No idea for Weeks 1 & 2. With that schedule, I prefer "tomato" cans for those weeks, but it's hard to schedule.

Will start new thread down the line on next year's potential and such.

Coach Hopkins (3 years) playoff record: 7-3 with a R1 lost to Champion MC, with a semi-final loss to Champion MC, and a State Final loss to Champion BR. Not too shabby. Keep it up!

I hate not playing MC. Two inner city all boys school with 100+ year rivalry (albeit MC has dominated) should always play each other. Just my opinion or course
I've been inconsistent on this issue. At times, yes, keep the rival, but as of late with the very tough schedule Rita had, has and will continue to have, along with the fact the games have been blowouts recently, I see no reason to schedule MC. Goal is to make the playoffs.

Your viewpoint is objectively the right one, and in the best interests of the school. But IMO some things are more important than winning and playoffs. Playing tough and not backing down against your historical rival (who is the premiere football program in the state), even if you lose by 30+, is what St. Rita was built on.
