I really like this as a non-con game for both schools. City, Catholic, boys only, different conferences with great traditions. Would love to see this develop into a nice annual rivalry.

What's not to like here?

It's now 35 - 14 in favor of the Mustangs. I totally agree with this. They should definitely play each other every year.

Tribune is reporting Childers had 380 yards. Is that a typo? With the qb running for 124 and throwing for 117 the offense had over 600 yards. Anyone who was actually at the game want to give a recap?

Same article 3 paragraphs down says 380 yards? That why I asked if it was a typo.

TL, you think Rita's line of scrimmage play will hold its own in the Blue? From what I heard preseason was that the defense would vastly improve, the offensive skill set will be very good, but the line play may not be a typical Rita one. Is this accurate? Maybe less depth on both lines?

Not TL but yes, OL looked solid. Good size, low launch. Again the most impressive trait is the shape they are in. Like last year when they moved to the quick strike O, Pats D had their hands on their hips by the end of the 1st qtr and Rita OL just popping back up and getting back to the LOS for next play. Good full team win.

Last year he was the backup. They scored 49 points. Then someone else had to get some yards too. 89 or 380? Yes poorly written.

89 is more like it. And while a back up last year, he played a lot and 380 yds rushing sounds right. Yesterday, 125 through the air and 110 on the ground from the QB plus 89 from #1 puts their O at 320 or so yards. Add in the rushing contributions from 22, 11, 16, 28, 81, and 83 plus 3 interceptions leading to shorter fields and you get 49 pts with around 400 yds on offense and pretty much all done in the 3 quarters the starters played

I was not at the game (working). But Childers is going both ways. Last summer they spent a lot of time installing the new offense. This year they did spend more time on defense. And having Childers play linebacker will help. I know from attending an couple of alumni luncheons Kuska was concerned with the tackling last year. Last year they scored 44 and lost. This year the won by 4 td's. So the defense passed today's test. New coach at Pat's from California. I don't think they had the normal film you'd get with a known coach.

As far as the line play goes with them running the 2 minute offense all game from the pistol formation blocking schemes have changed. I hope to see the game live next week.
