Any thoughts on which of the NU area is the best section to request? We have 126, 128, 226-228. Debating 128 vs 228. 128 is closer to the field but looks relatively low.

Has anyone been there before / has a sense for how low or short the lower bowl is vs the upper bowl?

I am surprised at the high cost of tickets on the secondary market. I am not going to travel 2500 miles to sit in the corner of the end zone. I thought Stanford struggles with attendance-maybe I'm wrong

Looking at the StubHub map it looks like there are entire sections where tickets have not been issued (upper level of end zones). StubHub is my go-to source for MLB tickets but in this case I'm just going to buy from NU. I always run into random people from my NU past so that adds another fun wrinkle.

I imagine there will be 10,000 empty seats. Labor Day weekend. And Stanford has attendance issues like nu.

First day of undergrad classes at Stanford isn’t until Sept 23. I don’t know if student season ticket holders have to essentially “eat” these early games or if there are that many more single tickets Stanford is trying to sell.

While I understand the desire to obtain tickets before booking flights, this will not be a difficult ticket to obtain. It’s not unusual for ticket holders (who likely don’t have the actual printed ticket yet) to ask for the moon on the secondary market.

A) Wait until single tickets go on sale or B) wait closer to the actual game to make your purchase. If you’re needing an unusually large number of tickets (more than 4), that’s the only reason I can think of to even entertain purchasing so early.

Stanford drew 41,000 against San Diego State a year ago, 33,000 vs Rice in ‘17; 46,000 against Kansas Stars in 2016. SDSU and KSU were Labor Day weekend games

Excellent advice. It would be just plain dumb to buy tickets now.

Plus one all this - a friend who went to Stanford had a good laugh when I said they were expensive on stub hub.

I have arranged a group ticket rate directly with Stanford in sec.130 (goal line to 5yd line on the NU side and adjacent to the official NU corner section). We are at 255ppl in our block confirmed and at only $30pp. Looking like a huge West Coast NU turnout! If you have a group of more than 15 people, I would highly recommend contacting Stanford directly. For reference, our group is primarily ‘92-‘98 grads.

I've been to a few of these - @ Ohio State, @ Rutgers, SLC for the NCAA tournament, B1G hoops tournament in NYC. They are never a good value for $ but Morty and Phillips are usually there, plus the band and Willie. The Alumni Association has stepped up their game over the past 5 years or so; the event is always well done and you leave proud to be associated with NU.

Well, to be fair, this $30 group rate is available to anyone on their website. But yeah I found that too and we are doing the same thing. A group of ~25 or so, we will be right above you in Section 230 most likely.

Should be fun. Go Cats.

We just got 27 in section 230. There are still some available in 229 and further back in 230 - the more Cats fans in that corner, the merrier.

Looking forward to it.

I got my tickets in section 131 to be a little closer to the purple fans but with stadium seats.
Can’t wait!

The experience at CAL was first rate. Later got an inquiry from NU asking how these events should be conducted and I told them the CAL experience should be the model. They made an honest effort to serve some decent food, the service was spread out so the lines disappeared before you could get impatient, wine and beer, sunshine, addresses from Big Morty and Big JP, film on a giant screen of NU's glories, cheerleaders... missing a Chicago Blues Band and soul sausages, but otherwise complete. I encourage everybody to go to this event and encourage the people who are doing the planning.

Season openers are always big, but this one is huge for NU. Stanford knows that and will be prepared. All the competition you could ever want to open the CFB season. Get to the game and get to the pre-game fiesta.

They've gotten better over the years. They are decent. It sort of depends on what you are looking for. We tend to just do our own tailgate, get the 20-30 people we know or whatever together, then you are outside in the parking lot, have space to throw a football around, and get to banter with the locals / hosts a bit. But in some cases for big events it's too big of a thing to pass up - e.g. for SLC that was an absolutely awesome experience, an enormous NU reunion. We also did the Army one after Sailgating up the Hudson, and that was an absolute blast. I sense there will be a lot of purple at this game.

Great to hear. I already got my tickets but am hoping to migrate to wherever there’s the most purple.

I think the answer is anywhere near the 126-130 / 226-230 corner. If we get enough of us there, maybe we can keep overflowing further and further. I think it'll be a live and loud NU contingent, if we are grouped together we can concentrate our efforts.

Get your tickets with the purple!!

Another thing to consider with these sections at Stanford stadium. They will likely be very HOT for a 1pm game on Labor Day weekend. Dress accordingly (Under Armour HeatGear in Purple!)
