Fantastic player. Athelete that can knock down shots and create his own. Hoping it is a minor Hamstring injury and for a quick and (more importantly) full recovery.

With Stanley out, now is the time for A.O.C. to step up. And if Baker is ever going to cement his role in the rotation this year, now is the time.

I believe K will tinker alot and we could see Goldwire, A.O.C. and maybe Baker all three start at some point over the next few games. Of the 3 I think A.O.C. has the potential for the highest ceiling, but Bakers shooting is becoming too hars to ignore.

Praying fir Stanley, but hopeful that this opportunity to step up will be ceased by someone. Go Duke.

I think you will see a lot of Joey Baker going forward. Out of the bunch, he brings an identifiable ingredient to the recipe. His shooting is going to open up our half court offense. It’s going to help out Vernon and Tre. The last couple of years we have begged for a shooter to stretch defenses out and create better driving lanes. His defense is far from perfect. But again, out of the bunch, who brings something better?

It's an opportunity for somebody whether it's Joey, AOC , Goldwire or extended minutes for others. It's still early in the season but time to start settling in and playing like a big time player. OFC

I would also caution all fans to temper their expectations regarding Stanley’s injury timelines. Hamstring injuries can be very very tricky. I’m a beaten down Knicks fan. But as an example, Elfrid Payton injured his hamstring at the end of October and there were no reports about a pop. Most thought it would be a few games. He’s still not back.

Yep. Hamstring injuries have a tendency to linger and recur if not fully healed.

Hate it for Stanley, but it’s a golden opportunity for several other guys to step up. Hope this will help us in the long term.

With Cash out, hopefully Wendell can get it together. Hopefully he can step up bigger than when Cam needed to step up when Z went out.

Totally agree this is an injury that can linger for months especially with an ultra competitive kid who keeps trying to push themselves too hard in an effort to return too soon

Also, not that it matters all that much, but did anyone else think it happened when he tried to jump? I’ve seen a lot of reports say it happened after he landed awkwardly, but based on his athleticism I don’t think he was just going in for a junior high style layup there.

Hamstring injuries suck. I strained my hamstring once and it recurred for two years. But yes I think baker had to have opened coach ks eyes yesterday. We need another scorer in the worst way and the type we need is a shooter. We need to develop baker into a consistent one

Hope Cash can come back healthy but we know how these kind of injuries linger all year. It will affect every aspect of his game. From his clear advantage of athleticism to the lift on his shot. Don’t rush back until he’s as close to 100 as possible.

As for opportunities- it’s up for grabs between two guys- Joey and AOC. I think Jordan’s role is what it is- as it should be. Give the edge to Joey here. He’s playing confidently and is knocking down shots. Alex, you would think, has the higher ceiling but right now Joey is the one playing and contributing at a much higher level. He’s taking the bull by the horns, and truthfully i hope he wins the battle. I want confidence out there. Having said that, best case scenario is both play so well that he has to play both of them extended sessions.

The good thing about this team is that we have the depth to weather injuries. We just do. This isn’t like losing Zion. But Stanley is quickly becoming my favorite player on this team so I really hope he’s back by January.

Agreed. I think we can still win a lot of games without him (maybe even beat MSU), but this has to be the guy we’d want to lose the least other than Jones or Carey. His defense and rebounding will be hard to replace and he seems to always come up with a big shot at the right moments.

Why does it seem like bad things only happen in Cameron lately??
Cassius.
Zion and the shoe.
Tre and the collision which led to losing to a bad Syracuse team.

I hate to see injuries in any sport, on any level, to any team. I'm praying for a quick and full recovery for both players hurt in that last game.

Maybe I missed it, but other than it be a hamstring, has any other information come out about Stanley?

One of the best things about Stanly (that I didn’t expect) is his ability to knock down wide open 3’s consistently. He’s about the only player on the team doing it besides Joey.

It seems that AOC shows in practice he can shoot better than almost anyone but it doesn't translate to a game. I have the feeling that if it doesn't happen for him now, when we need him the most, it may not happen at all.

Yeah AOC’s shooting has been a huge disappointment this year. Even last year it was. And that’s sucky considering he’s supposed to be our “sharpshooter”. If he doesn’t start making his 3’s, and i mean they’ve been wide open, then i expect Joey to take up his minutes. Joey might not be very athletic but he’s proved he can shoot and that’s exactly what this team needs.

I remember a comment that R.J. made last season about AOC, I think after the first Syracuse game. He said that if you showed up to watch practice you'd get to see what Alex is capable of doing. Said the young man goes on heaters all the time. I really wish for him it could come to fruition starting tomorrow night.

Cant remember the quote but I remember someone saying that K expects a game at some point this year where AOC just goes bananas and hits about 7 3s.

I hope so too my friend. Man AOC seems like a good kid too. He has the size and atheletic ability to really excell. A big time game like that could potentially chabge the trajectory of his career.

That was Stanley who said that about Alex
