Give it a C- at best.................Disappointing.

I disagree. With what they had to work with, The Last Jedi and the death of Carrie Fisher, I thought they did a decent job of wrapping things up.

The problem lies with 1) Kathleen Kennedy is not the person who should be handling the Star Wars Universe for Disney. 2) Abrams should not have been the person to direct the first sequel and should not have been involved to begin with. They botched the sequels with The Force Awakens, furthered the damage with The Last Jedi and were trying to recover with this film. Almost impossible.

Rogue One and The Mandalorian are examples of Star Wars done correctly.

But at the end of the day, I enjoy this one much more than I did The Last Jedi, and probably even more than The Force Awakens. I'd give it a B-.

Nothin' like nerds to interrupt a raging political fight with a Spaceman thread.

I'm disappointed in the both of you.

I think Kennedy has done well. J.J. did well too (in Force at least), he was setting a tone - Johnson went awry

I thought it was great. Thought they finished the story cleanly and was glad they recovered from The Last Jedi.

Rogue One = A++++++.....best one that they did of the new ones. Rise just seemed like it had about 3 story lines that could have been their own movies that they rushed and jammed in this one movie.

Felt that they made the jump that Leia being a Jedi....come on.....we've never seen her like that and then they are supposed to make us believe she is good enough to be a teacher? They loaded a back story in there to try and push that idea on everyone. Poor screen writing in my opinion.

Too much political correctness, too. I'm not against women taking leading roles, but seems like the last couple of movies has been a point to try to push "strong women in leadership roles". Come on......I'm sick of it.

I mean, you got to remember, she greenlighted both Rogue One and The Mandalorian as well.

VII, VIII, and IX were always going to fall flat in some ways - you just can’t repeat nostalgia.

Story line was Empire Strikes Back.........instead of "Luke...I am your father" it was "Rey....you are my granddaughter". I expected more originality.

I think the death of Carrie Fisher really screwed things up. This movie was supposed to have more of Carrie, and probably would have been more explanatory about her role as a "Jedi Master," but with her death they were left with leftover takes from the previous two movies.

I just wish they would have actually had scenes in this trilogy where Luke, Leia, Han and Lando would have all been on screen together in some capacity. Luke had zero screen time with Han or Lando, and very very little with Leia. Han had a little more screen time with her, but again, none with anyone else. Just seems like a wasted opportunity.

IMHO, the trilogies would have focused on the rise and fall of a new Empire, would have focused on the fall and rise of Ben Solo, and probably not included a Rey.

I know little about Star Wars, although I saw a couple of the movies decades ago, but I'm not a J.J. Abrams fan based on the two things I saw of his.

One was the TV show "Lost." I watched a lot of it and a lot of it was very good stylistically. But it turns out that that's all it was. There was no substance and no story. I kept waiting for them to flesh it out and they never did.

The other is Star Trek. It's ridiculous and awful now and from what I've read it's because they gave him the reins and he made it like it is now. To test my theory I recently watched the Star Trek 2009 movie and it was bad. In addition to being bad, it wasn't even similar to the old Star Trek. It'd be like if they did a movie of the TV show Friends and all the characters were secret agents like James Bond. You'd be like, WTF is this, these characters have the same names as on Friends but they're completely different people.

Anyway, it doesn't matter re. Star Wars since I'm so out of the loop on that I wasn't going to see it anyway, but I just thought I'd ramble a bit.

Meh, it blended two family lineages Palpatine and Skywalker, plus it introduced a pretty figgin big Sith Navy. It felt like a good Star Wars movie. Last Jedi was a disaster and I was afraid they'd still go down that path.

The thing people may not realize. According to the comics, and canon, Palpatine impregnated Anikan's mother, so in essence, Luke was a Palpatine, as was Leia as was Ben.

So when Rey and Ben kiss..... you guessed it. Kissing Cousins.

You guys are crazy, A++++++

J.J. did a phenomenal job at tying up the saga while planting future seeds for growth.

He always had an uphill battle, Last Jedi made it steeper - he killed it, imo.

The problem was they used Jurassic World writers on this movie.
I think this trilogy is phenomenal if J.J. got all 3. Even with his bookends, I think it was overall great.

With The Mandalorian and this ending, I’m excited again to see where it goes.

Watch Solo again with an open mind. It’s pretty good. Lando’s character is well done.

Rouge One IMHO has been the best movie beyond the original trilogy, and I love what they're doing with The Mandalorian. I just think JJ could have done a MUCH MUCH better job with this trilogy.

Watched Solo not expecting much because of all the terrible press and reviews...came away quite surprised and thought it was a pretty good movie. I also had extremely low expectations for ROS because TLJ was garbage, but walked out of the theater satisfied with the end of the Skywalker saga. Loved the final scene...lots of memories of sitting in the theater 40 years ago flooded my mind.

I see that point of view surely (we all have a better idea of where it should have gone in our heads). But I think he set the tone well in VII and finished strong. We lost something in the middle. Although I think Hohnson would do well with his own stand alone trilogy, VIII failed in this one.

I agree Rogue was incredible, and showed that Star Wars has range outside of the Jedi - Sith narrative. Mandalorian is proving that well. I just hope they keep it up. I’m not too excited about the Obi Wan series (but I don’t know anything about who is writing it, directing it, etc..). And I’m bummed the GOT creators aren’t doing anything with Disney now, I was excited about that.

Lando Chronicles should be in the works, imo. The young Lando in Solo was great.

I think overall, Kennedy has done well. She’s made some really tough decisions.

I agree. It got me excited about what’s next again. VIII zapped my excitement

I think Stars Wars fanboys would ***** about anything that happened, regardless of plot line. If they took it the logical direction, then they’d be catering to fandom and that would be the bitching point, similar to GoT. If they did what they did, then it wasn’t wha the super Nerds thought it should have because (insert rando nerd logic).

I like Rogue One and Han Solo as stand alones.

I think the original movies were dogshit because I didn’t watch them when I was young. I only saw them much later in life. The plot lines, the special effects, and worst, the acting, killed it for me.

Ep. 1-3? Hahahha JarJar? Yoda flipping around like Jet Li. Pfffft. 7/8 haven’t been very good. Mark Hamill would’ve been better to be recast.

For that time, the special effects were phenomenal. I agree 1-3 were pretty bad, as much as I want to like them. 7 was good, come on.

I’m sure, but like I said, I wasn’t a kid when I first saw them. I’d already watched the Matrix. Comparatively speaking, the former was trash (pun intended, go back and watch the trash compactor scene).

Rogue One is the best movie, including the original in my opinion.
