His stepping down has been planned since before the refugee comment. He is going to concentrate on another part of the businees; i believe some new method of filling orders faster or a new product, i forget, but it's been in the works for a while. He stepped down once before, but came back to help for a few years.

Schultz is a real *******. He fired a guy I used to work for after the guy had guided the company to record profits and growth for 5 straight years. And for the record Starbucks is the only coffee I drink.....just calling it like it is.

Companies should stay out of politics. Starbucks has been hurt by his stupidity. Our vets are suffering and he makes refugees a priority? Why do businesses insist on ticking off half the country. It makes zero sense. BTW, Nieman's just decided to carry Ivanka's line again. I wonder why?

Are you the whiniest ***** ever? smh

On January 27, 2017,[326] President Donald Trump signed an executive order to indefinitely suspend the entry of Syrian refugees into the United States and suspended entry into the United States of nearly all citizens of seven countries until proper vetting measures could be implemented.[327] The same day, Starbucks' Chairman and CEO Howard Schultz wrote a letter to Starbucks' employees, stating in part, "There are more than 65 million citizens of the world recognized as refugees by the United Nations, and we are developing plans to hire 10,000 of them over five years in the 75 countries around the world where Starbucks does business. And we will start this effort here in the U.S. by making the initial focus of our hiring efforts on those individuals who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel in the various countries where our military has asked for such support."[328]

As a result of Schultz's letter, supporters of President Trump's executive order supported a boycott of Starbucks, with some saying that Starbucks should give more help to American veterans.
[329][330]

In 2014, Starbucks established a program to support veterans and their families.
[330] Starbucks hired 8,000 veterans and military spouses since 2014.[330] Starbucks operates 30 stores located near military bases that help provide assistance to military families.[331] Organizations that offer free legal help and other services to military families hold meetings at Starbucks stores on Military Mondays.[331]

How many Fortune 500 CEOs are total sweethearts? He should have kept his mouth shut about politics though.

Lol some of these whiny idiots saying companies should stay out of politics but applauded Chick-fil-a a few years ago and again recently on another thread. They sure are consistent.

I hate Starbucks as a company, brand and everything else but it doesn't have a thing to do with politics. I love Chickfila but again has nothing to do with politics.

Did Chic-Fil-A dive into politics through hiring policies or was it drug into politics because of comments the founder made and liberals A. Didn't like that they were closed on a Sunday's for religious reasoning and B. Didn't like the founders comments when asked his thoughts on the marriage component?

I thought it was the latter but I'm not sure. I patron establishments because of their products, not because of their beliefs. If I like what you're selling, short of supporting financially supporting the enemy, I will still buy the stuff. I think these boycotts and every other political demonstration against corporations are ridiculous. At the same time, I can't fathom intentionally pissing off a portion of my customer base for my own personal political views.

Depends on what instance you are talking about in terms of Chickfila. Both instances are true for them. They are a VERY politically involved company with owners that tend to make public comments that are also political.

I know quite a few present and past employees and four different franchisees. And they all say the same stuff about the company and Cathy family. And not all is "bad" from my perspective so please don't get me wrong.

Thanks for the clarification. I honestly couldn't remember outside of the LGBT folks planning a massive boycott or maybe a massive hug and kiss display at restaurants. I never knew what brought it on, just remember thinking how much I love their Spicy Deluxe sandwich, Waffle Fries and Chic-Fil-A sauce as well as the nugget trays for an easy appetizer when I host parties at my house. Without fail, the nuggets get destroyed.

The Cathy patriarch made a statement regarding his personal opposition to gay marriage. Libs went nuts and started a failed boycott. Shultz made a statement on the part of Starbucks regarding the hiring of 10,000 refugees that landed them in so much trouble. Their brand has taken a big hit. People wondered why hire refugees over vets, for example.
