After re-watching the CTC scrimmage again, I still have no idea how Alex is gonna do this year. He seemed super confident on offense, and was even handling the ball a little more than last year. However..shocking I know, the defense was still terrible.
He repeatedly got caught out of position, Cassius beat him backdoor a few times. The mistakes he is making are not because he's slow or unathletic or anything like that. These are just basic mental lapses that cannot happen at this level.

I think for Duke to be a final four type team, Alex needs to be one the best players and be reliable to give us 10-12 ppg consistently, and I gotta say, I'm more than worried at the moment.

As much as we want AOC to succeed, this will come down to him being proactive and aggressive on D.

Tre, Carey and Hurt are for sure starters. Do we really know outside of that?

i think wendell is pretty solidified at the sf spot considering his comp is Baker

That was another thing that stuck out during CTC, Baker didn’t really do anything to make an impact.
I understand it’s still super early, but I would assume as of now that Baker will not be in the 8 man “big game” rotation.

We are aware that this was a twenty minute inter team scrimmage right?

That said I’ll wait until actual exhibition and game play to make a judgment on Alex and Baker. I didn’t see much from either during the twenty minutes that stuck out the only returner I saw really playing hard was Robinson so it could be him taking time from both Alex and Baker coming off the bench .

What i will say is that at least to me, Duke is different than a lot of schools in that the scrimmage is usually a real basketball game with actual defense. Can you tell everything from that 20 minutes? Of course not, that's ridiculous. However, I don't think you can dismiss it all either. It's fun to talk about and project. Exhibition games approaching quickly, and November 5 will be here before you know it. I'm keeping my eye on Cassius because of the combination of his ability and his age. I think that will be a factor. I can't wait! Excited!

We're in trouble then. I don't see him being one of the top 5 players on the team. We just need him to come in and hit a few big 3s for us like Dre did in 2010

This is prob. premature and I apologize but other than Hurt I think outside shooting could once again be a major issue with this team. Hope I am wrong.

I hope you’re wrong also. Although until we see Alex, Jack and Tre proves consistent all year long. It could be. Unknowns but hopeful are Moore and Carey. But if we are relying on our two bigs for our outside threats that is an issue. I’m hopeful though.

And to clarify on Alex- we know he’s capable, i just want to see it consistently. For him it’s a matter of staying on the floor and being available.

I say Justin Robinson over Jack White. He’s a pretty good rim protector, rebounder and he can hit an open 3 periodically.

I think Jack is a better player overall, but i wouldn’t be surprised if we see JRob with regular minutes this season.

Robinson may get a few minutes in the rotation. But I don't see any plausible scenario in which he plays ahead of a healthy Jack White. White is a better defender, rebounder, passer, dribbler.

Really hoping for a breakthrough year from Alex. Robinson seems really good whenever he's in the game. I think he could help us this year.

The only for sure starter is Tre Jones and Hurt imo.

The other three spots are up in the air. Carey is gonna have to learn not to dip his shoulder to draw charges.

Javin, White, Alex and Baker going to have to show more improvement or it just might be a Goldwire and Jones back court.

I like the Goldwire Jones backcourt. Not a lot of O, but nasty D to set the tone. Goldwire would start at a lot of schools.
