No doubt, his old Paducah Tilghman hs teammate Martels Carter had a big impact on Strickland's decision. But at the end of the day, this is another recruiting breakthrough for Vince Marrow with an assist from Coach Wolf. Good start for our 2026 class and for the spring portion of UK's recruiting season.

Strickland a top 20 OL. A monster get. Thought it odd they told him he is a day 1 player because of us losing everyone. We in trouble if that is the case.
You will probably agree that no offensive lineman is ever a slam dunk day one player. They may have told him that he can play as soon as he earns the role, and that Wolf sees him as an early impact prospect, or similar words to that affect.

In any case, this is an impact commitment for us, and it defeats the narrative that Stoops is headed for a weaker class. Actually, looking at their scheduled OV list, I am expecting a strong class, especially after today.

I'm assuming Louisville offered. Good to win an instate battle.

It is misleading to look at it as an instate recruiting battle. Strickland reportedly holds 5 SEC and 4 B10 offers. It was never a matter of UK versus UL. FWIW, Strickland (like Carter) isn't a KY native.

Question. With all of the offers we have out there do you think the staff has actually looked at and evaluated film on every one of these players ?
We have recruited well under Stoops so I assume we have looked at them all, maybe even seen many play in person ?

I have no direct knowledge, but with the size of the staff, with dozens of young assistants, one must assume film evaluation is a twelve month effort.

Come to a QB Club meeting: at times several student staff members come
to handle the video and tech related stuff. When we quit paying assistant coaches a little cash, I started giving an envelope to the kid running the video . . . and more youngsters started showing up!?!?!

Look at the length of his arms. Arm and leg length (obviously along with strength)
are especially important for O-Tackles, who often have to “reach” to block speedy edge rushers.

This commitment MIGHT be a signal of a “coming back to Jesus moment.” Stoops built an SEC competitive program “from
the inside, out.”

Yes, of course.

You are scratching the surface on the difference between a scholarship offer and an online player rating. Before a Power 4 staff (including ours) offers a scholarship to a prospect, they talk with the prospect, discuss the prospect with the his hs coach, and evaluate his film. (At a minimum.) Sometimes a prospect will make a UV to campus before being offered. Sometimes a prospect will participate in one of the coaching staff's June/July camps before being offered.

May 30

Charles Edgeworth, OL, Chattanooga, TN
Joel Ervin, OL, Ft Myers, FL (Miami commit)
Cameron Miller, OL, Hammond, IN
Jarvis Strickland, OL, Paducah, KY (UK commit)
Roderick Tezeno, WR, Opelousas, LA

June 2

Jackson Ford, LB/TE, Malvern, PA

June 6

Marcus Almada, DL, Marion, MA
Jordan Crutchfield, DB/LB, Ft Pierce, FL
Dallas Dickerson, WR, Bogart, GA
Dylan Purter, DB, Tuskegee, AL (LSU commit)
Elijah Satchell, LB, Camden, NJ

June 13

Adam Balogoun-Ali, LB, W Palm Beach, FL
JT Barlow, DB, Evergreen, AL
Darnell Collins, DB, Rome, GA
KJ Deriso, DB/WR, Fayetteville, GA
Justin Edwards, DB/LB, Orlando, FL
Keymian Henderson, WR, Carthage, TX
Davis McCray, WR, San Antonio, TX
Larry Miles, slotR, Orlando, FL
Da'Ron Parks, OL, Sarasota, FL
Amari Thomas, RB, Blountsville, FL (FL St commit)

June 15

Asharri Charles, LB, Venice, FL

June 16

Tyler Duell, OL, W Chester, PA

June 20

Kamari Blair, OL, Clarksville, TN
Karsten Busch, LB, Louisville, KY (UL commit)
Ben Duncum, DL, Austin, TX
Tyreek Jemison, OL, Dallas, GA
Jaedyn Terry, DB, Manchester, GA (GA Tech commit)

More OVs are likely to be added later, and a few will get cancelled or postponed. This lineup of OVs has become heavily focused on WR, OL, LB, and DB. By August camp, Coach Stoops should have each of those positions stocked with multiple commitments. Coach Wolf is getting it done with OL recruiting.

Rios and Wiggins are in Lexington now. Important visits. I don't expect a quick decision from either because both have many options.

You may be wondering if any of these prospects can be considered UK leans. It's still a little early for that (although Strickland is already committed). But the following seem heavily focused on UK, maybe above and beyond the level of interest an OV implies. Not saying we get all of them, but Stoops will sign at least several of these-

Balogoun-Ali
Blair
Crutchfield
Deriso
Duell
Duncum
Edgeworth
Ford
Jemison
(Strickland)

Notwithstanding all the online hype about the transfer portal (which is good for lots of clicks), recruitment of high level hs players remains the life blood for Power 4 football programs. Recruiting solid hs players typically involves lower NIL costs than transfers and typically (not always, obviously) brings players who stay longer in the program. It should be recognized that hs players enter a Power 4 program for purposes of development, while the transfer portal provides more experienced (and typically more expensive) players in order to plug positional voids on the roster. Recruiting hs players provides the foundation for strong programs and will continue to be fundamentally important.

UK 's 2026 visitation schedule is dominated by prospects from the talent-rich states of GA and FL. Our coaching staff is putting together a strong list of visitors. This foreshadows another excellent signing class, although it is important to keep in mind that important commits historically visit and announce in the fall as well.

Updated 2026 UK OVs-

April 11

Oscar Rios, QB, Downey, CA
Terry Wiggins, LB, Coatesville, PA

(Both Rios and Wiggins showed up and reportedly had positive visits.)

May 30

Charles Edgeworth, OL, Chattanooga, TN
Joel Ervin, OL, Ft Myers, FL (Miami commit)
Cameron Miller, OL, Hammond, IN
Jarvis Strickland, OL, Paducah, KY (UK commit)
Roderick Tezeno, WR, Opelousas, LA

June 2

Jackson Ford, LB/TE, Malvern, PA

June 6

Marcus Almada, DL, Marion, MA
Jordan Crutchfield, DB/LB, Ft Pierce, FL
Dallas Dickerson, WR, Bogart, GA
Jach Fuchs, OL, Hendersonville, TN
Dylan Purter, DB, Tuskegee, AL (LSU commit)
Elijah Satchell, LB, Camden, NJ

June 13

Adam Balogoun-Ali, LB, W Palm Beach, FL
JT Barlow, DB, Evergreen, AL
Darnell Collins, DB, Rome, GA
KJ Deriso, DB/WR, Fayetteville, GA
Justin Edwards, LB/DB, Orlando, FL
Keymian Henderson, WR, Carthage, TX
Davis McCray, WR, San Antonio, TX
Larry Miles, slotR, Orlando FL
Da'Ron Parks, OL, Sarasota, FL
Amari Thomas, RB, Blountstown, FL (FL St commit)

June 15

Asharri Charles, LB, Venice, FL

June 16

Benjamin Corhei, OL, Valdosta, GA
Tyler Duell, OL, W Chester, PA

June 20

Kosci Barnes, DB, Greensboro, NC
Kamari Blair, OL, Clarksville, TN
Karsten Busch, LB, Louisville, KY (UL commit)
Ben Duncum, DL, Austin, TX
Tyreek Jemison, OL, Dallas, GA
Jaedyn Terry, DB, Manchester, GA (GA Tech commit)

Three prospects who don't appear on this OV schedule are Matt Ponatoski (QB, Cincinnati, OH), Josaih Hope (DL, Ratcliff, KY), and Jamarcus Whyce (DL, Dayton, OH). I suspect all three would like to OV UK but their offers are not currently committable.

If you want to know which other prospects besides Strickland are more likely to commit to UK, it's simply too early to know. So this is in the realm of guessing. The OVs themselves will be pivotal. Some prospects find what they are looking for during the visit and make a commitment. Others are just doing due diligence with a longer list of candidate schools that interest them and take their time. Don't hold me to this, but I might say Adam Balogoun-Ali, Ben Duncum, Jach Fuchs, and Charles Edgeworth seem smitten with UK at this early stage of their recruitments.

Love the Strickland pick up. Educated guesses on who else UK may land?
Look at the list of scheduled UK OVs that I posted (above) on Sunday. The next group of 2026 UK commitments will come from that list between the end of this month and the middle of July.

Richard Thigpen, a big 2026 OT from Nashville Ensworth hs, recently made a UV to UK and there is some superficial evidence that he is working on scheduling a June OV.

Summing up our current 2026 OV schedule-

On April 11, UK was OVed by Oscar Rios (QB, Downey, CA) and Terry Wiggins (LB, Coatesville, PA). Subsequently, Wiggins committed to PA St. Rios remains uncommitted and reportedly had a good visit to Lexington. He is UK's top QB target in this class.

After Rios, Matt Ponatoski out of Archbishop Moeller hs in Cincinnati could be the next highest priority on UK's 2026 QB list. Ponatoski reportedly holds a UK offer (among his 5 SEC offers) but has not scheduled an OV to UK as yet.

May 30

Charles Edgeworth, OL, Chattanooga, TN
Joel Ervin, OL, Ft Myers, FL (Miami commit)
Amante Martin, RB, Port Arthur, TX
Cameron Miller, OL, Hammond, IN
Max Mohring, LB, Malvern, PA
Jarvis Strickland, OL, Paducah, KY (UK commit)
Roderick Tezeno, DB, Opelousas, LA (SoCal commit)
Jamyan Theodore, DB, Chattanooga, TN
Justin Williams, slotR, Gainesville, FL

June 2

Jackson Ford, LB/TE, Malvern, PA

June 6

Marcus Almada, DL, Marion, MA
Jordan Crutchfield, DB, Ft Pierce, FL
Dallas Dickerson, WR, Bogart, GA
Jack Fuchs, OL, Hendersonville, TN
Dylan Purter, DB, Tuskegee, AL (LSU commit)
Elijah Satchell, LB, Camden, NJ

June 13

Delvecchio Alston, RB, Trussville, AL
Adam Balogoun-Ali, LB, W Palm Beach, FL
JT Barlow, DB, Evergreen, AL
Rinaldo Callaway, LB, Macon, GA (USF commit)
Darnell Collins, DB, Rome, GA
KJ Deroso, WR/DB, Fayetteville, GA
Justin Edwards, LB/DB, Orlando, FL
Keymian Henderson, WR, Carthage, TX
Josiah Hope, DL, Ratcliff, KY
Davis McCray, WR, San Antonio, TX
Larry Miles, slotR, Orlando, FL
Da'Ron Parks, OL, Sarasota, FL
London Smith, WR, Waco, TX (Baylor commit)
Amari Thomas, RB, Blountstown, FL (FL St commit)
Brian Williams, WR, Lake Mary, FL

June 15

Asharri Charles, LB, Venice, FL

June 16

Benjamin Corhei, OL, Valdosta, GA
Tyler Duell, OL, W Chester, PA

June 20

Kosci Barnes, DB, Greensboro, NC
Kamari Blair, OL, Clarksville, TN
Karsten Busch, LB, Louisville, KY (UL commit)
Ben Duncum, DL, Austin, TX
Walt Frazier, DL, Haverford, PA
Tyreek Jemison, OL, Dallas, GA
Jaedyn Terry, DB, Manchester, GA (GA Tech commit)

The so-called "crown jewels" on this list are Blair, Charles, Edgeworth, Ford, Henderson, Purter, Rios, Smith, and Williams.

Although there are many factors, it has been said that SEC coaching staffs generally attempt to schedule OVs for their top targets first. That being the case, it seems clear that Coach Stoops is targeting OL recruitment again as the first priority objective in his 2026 class. Other priorities apparently include WR, LB, and DB.

I cannot confirm, but it is being said in the media that Asharri Charles, Jordan Crutchfield, and Charles Edgeworth will eventually choose between UK and UL. Some other names for whom UK is believed to be a finalist include Blair, Fuchs, Dickerson, McCray, Duncum, Hope, Theodore, Barlow, and Balogoun-Ali. Of course, given the fact that all of these players have scheduled OVs to UK, any of them could commit to our class.

The core of UK's 2026 class will come from these visits. Every year, however, Stoops gets OVs in the fall from important players who go on to sign with UK and develop into starters. So I never worry about class rankings, especially this early.

New UK 2026 OV schedule, based on today's most recent information.

Oscar Rios (QB, Downey, CA) and Terry Wiggins (LB, Coatesville, PA) OVed UK on April 11. Subsequently, Wiggins committed to PA St. Rios remains uncommitted but the most recent information suggests he might be leaning to OK St although that is not clear yet.

After Rios, UK's next QB priority in the 2026 class is Matt Ponatoski of Cincinnati, who likes UK, UC, OR, MI but has not yet scheduled an OV anywhere to date.

Generally speaking, the coaching staff tries to line up the most important visits first. But there are exceptions because scheduling can be complicated for lots of reasons including conflicts and unrelated preferences.

May 30

Charles Edgeworth, OL, Chattanooga, TN
Amante Martin, RB, Port Arthur, TX
Davis McCray, WR, San Antonio, TX
Cameron Miller, OL, Hammond, IN
Jarvis Strickland, OL, Paducah, KY (UK commit)
Roderick Tezeno, DB, Opelousas, LA (SoCal commit)
Jayman Theodore, DB, Chattanooga, TN
Justin Williams, slotR, Gainesville, FL

June 2

Jackson Ford, LB/TE, Malvern, PA

June 3

Tyreek Jemison, OL, Dallas, GA
Tyrell Simpson, OL, Leland, NC
Jaedyn Terry, DB, Manchester, GA (GA Tech commit)

Heze Kent, OL/DL, Brunswick, GA, is currently committed to Miami. He is being recruited by Coach Marrow and may OV UK sometime in June but that is still being discussed.

Ford and Mohring are teammates at Malvern Prep Academy.

For those still concerned about UK's 2026 football class, this is an excellent, large OV schedule and our coaches will sign our share of these players. Players do not go to the trouble to take an OV unless they are interested, and UK's campus and facilities are impressive. Our coaches are obviously recruiting the OL, WRs, RBs, DL, and DBs hard. There will be some more important OVs in the fall too. There always are.

Andre Clarke and Marcus Almada were previously scheduled to OV UK but are not currently scheduled. Those ships have apparently sailed.

BTW, I am attending a business meeting in Atlanta this weekend, my first significant travel since my health "spell" last year. It's a step back to normality for me. Last night, I saw Ronald Acuna hit a 467 ft home run at Truist Park. I have seen a lot of Cincinnati Reds games at Crosley Field, Riverfront Stadium, and the Great American Ball Park. I have seen occasional games at Wrigley Field, Tropicana Field, Busch Stadium, and in Atlanta. I once saw a couple Dodger games at Chavez Ravine. Back in the day, I even saw an Expos game once at Olympic Stadium in Montreal. But I am pretty sure Acuna's moon shot last night was the farthest I have ever personally seen a human hit a baseball. Incredible player, and an amazing home run considering it was Acuna's first plate appearance in a year due to a knee injury.

Dang you're old. Then so am I. Did you ever see the Brooklyn Dodgers or New York Giants play? I saw the former. Not the St. Louis Browns or Boston Braves. 🤪

I saw the Milwaukee Braves, but not the Boston Braves. I also missed Paul Revere and Ben Franklin.

SPECT Imaging and I are life long Braves fans, probably because the Louisville Colonels were the AAA farm team for the Braves in those days. Back in the day, our fathers would drive us to Fairgrounds Stadium (on the property of Freedom Hall in Louisville) to see the Colonels play. After the games, we would stand outside the Colonels locker room and get autographs when the players left. Many Colonels players got promoted to Milwaukee, so it was easy for us to become Braves fans.

FWIW, the Giants and Willie Mays relocated to SF in 1957. That same year, the Brooklyn Dodgers relocated to LA. The Braves relocated from Milwaukee to ATL in 1966.

FWIW, Jackson Ford (Malvern, PA), who will OV UK on June 2, is letting it be known that he prefers to play OLB at the college level. In Brad White's defensive system, Ford would probably play the Jack LB position. At 6'4" 230#, he has nearly ideal size for the role.

To the OV list I posted above last Saturday, I have added Aaden Aytch (LB, Lafayette, IN) who will OV UK on June 13, Amiri Acker (WR, Iva, SC) who will OV UK on June 6, and Prince Jean (WR, Valdosta, GA) who will OV UK on June 3.

Thank you for your very kind feedback. Negativity is a choice. Optimism is also a choice. Soon enough, we will see what the future holds.

I remember the Milwalkee Braves, who struggled for years. Not sure this is known outside the area, but word was that the original stadium, Fulton County, was built on an Indian graveyard and a medicine man pit a curse on it.

Joel Ervin (OL, Ft Myers, FL) and Kamari Blair (OL, Clarksville, TN) were scheduled to OV UK in the next month, but their visits have been cancelled. Ervin originally committed to UL but flipped his commitment to Miami over the winter. It has been known for some time that he might cancel on UK. OTOH, Blair was thought to be a lefitimate candidate for a possible UK scholarship. Even without Ervin and Blair, UK still has 9 OL prospects scheduled to visit including UK commitment Jarvis Strickland. And Coach Marrow is still discussing a possible June OV with Heze Kent (OL/DL, Brunswick, GA).

Concerning the growing schedule of UK OVs over the next month. Nobody knows how these visits will go, but OVs go a long way toward guiding school decisions. These are not predictions. But if I had to get out over my skis and guess at this point, I think UK probably has reasonably good chances to add commitments from these visitors-

Amiri Acker
Delvecchio Alston
Rinaldo Calloway
Darnell Collins
KJ Deriso
Charles Edgeworth
Jack Fuchs
Josiah Hope
Larry Miles
Max Mohring

Agreed! Rembrandt90 is quite possibly my favorite contributor on this forum, and has been for years.
