So one of the options the Tiny 8 conference is looking at is staying put for a while with eight schools to "see how things shake out." Good grief...it is the Big Least management style all over again. The AAC would have a better future than this collection of clowns.

The Little8 is a recipe for disaster for WVU. All anyone needs to ask is would Oliver Luck have advised WVU to join these 7 teams in conference a decade ago. The answer would have been no. WVU is looking for an exit as we post.

Everyone seems to think the ACC is a slam dunk. It isn't looking likely however....in the short term. WVU'S best bet is a Big12 AAC alliance. If the Tiny8 goes west with the Communist PAC12...then the Mountaineers could be looking at indy status again...at least for a while. So says the back channel.

WVU should not and will not join a 'G' conference. They will soon be by far the best P5 team available for anyone's expansion. Where was a school like that when the B12 was looking to expand? Nowhere, they are a rare commodity. If Kansas goes to the B1G and 3 or 4 schools go to the PAC, WVU is free and clear to go anywhere.

It's not WVU's choice or decision. That's the difference between making a loan and needing a loan. Fact is we add very little value other than being game day cannon fodder. Our track record within the Big 12 and projections for the coming season define WVU football as the definition of mediocre unfortunately.

RM, it is WVU's decision along with another P5 conference. As far as value, WVU brings more than most according to a study quoted on the other board. It also makes sense. Choosing a school to expand with comes down to two things, I thing we can agree.

What does it bring to the conference financially and what does it bring other schools? Very few, if any of the households in W Va. currently subscribe to the ACCN. Add Mountaineer Nation, which is much larger than the state itself to the subscriber list.

Mountaineer Nation consists of displaced Mountaineers, mostly over the Carolinas and Florida. We're talking hundreds of thousands of people. Many thousands in the Charlotte area alone as shown when they have a WVU game at 73,300 seat Bank of America Stadium. Most recently we kicked the hell out of Tennessee there. I was there along with other WVU fans that filled 2/3 of the stadium.

We would substantially increase ACCN subscriptions. There are also the stadium sellouts we create. That is a very substantial chunk of money for our rivals in the ACC. A 60,000 seat stadium generates about $3 million for each sold out game. Probably about $1 million after costs. That is important to at least 4 of the ACC teams. Our ticket sales generate about the same money as the MAC contribution each year.

Projections are just that, ******** predictions based upon bias and what little someone has read. I honestly believe WVU is in for a double digit win year. We are rising back out of mediocrity to a top 20 program in football and basketball. We've been there before, we know what it takes to get there again.

Wvu us a tiny state with a relatively small state school type following. You're whistling in a graveyard. ACC doesn't want to delude earnings btw....ND is their key. We dont qualify for Big. WVU would barely push into too five of the AAC. Look I post what I hear from folks in the room. Not in a good position at the moment. Glad for your enthusiasm...as pollyanna as it may be.

Well it certainly has been all about appeasing texas and Oklahoma. The decision to not expand past ten since the last wave of defections is criminal...and stupid.

The AAC would be a great fit for WVU and many of the Big 8 schools

One more would be SMU

I mean do you guys want to see the end of WVU football as you know it. You guys really do have **** for brains. I guarantee you any wager that the WVU Admin is not looking at what you asshats think is a good revenue generating conference. The revenue would Big East revenue. They’d be lucky to get $10,000,000 for that lame *** program lineup.

WVU is gonna end up in a great spot. Your jibberish isn’t a great spot.

ACC is in the world of hurt
They aren’t looking to add schools who will take from their revenue
ACC is a conference who needs to kick about 4-5 teams out

What state do you live in?
ACC is in the world of hurt
They aren’t looking to add schools who will take from their revenue
ACC is a conference who needs to kick about 4-5 teams out
If you think WVU wouldn't add to the revenue of both the ACCN and individual schools through increased ticket sales you are very unfamiliar with the Mountaineer fan base. Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte doesn't keep inviting them back to play SEC opponents because they feel sorry for them. Mountaineers usually put the most asses in the seats. Do a little research.

It is upsetting.
Possibly people are clueless but at the ACC media days when WVU to the ACC was brought up people quickly dismissed it.
All this smoke coming out isn’t coming from people in the know. WVU fits in the ACC. But we don’t live in a world where things fit. We live in a world where teams enter conferences because they add to the bottom line.
Clemson, Florida State and a few other schools are saying no. They don’t want to lose revenue. They are actually looking to find someway to back door schools now.
Too many mouths and not enough revenue. I actually believe WVUs best chance is replacing Pitt in the future.

Very similar to KU and the B1G but their fight is a lot more uphill than WVU because B1G schools are bringing in 50-60 million from media contracts.
Kansas would shrink the cut if they enter the conference.

Even the SEC is at the point where they cannot expand anymore. The word is ND is the only school who will add enough value to the point where schools aren’t taking a cut in revenue. But even that is speculation. Don’t know how much money the SEC will be making once ND is able to leave their current contracts

WVU will ultimately go wherever ESPN dictates, perhaps influenced to some degree by litigation or the threat thereof.

That was the plan for Big XII Now.
Only two teams who weren’t included…Texas and Oklahoma
A lot easier for ESPN to have the streaming numbers through this.

Had idiots on this message board ***** and complain about it nonstop.
Acting like it was some sort of G5 TV deal…

That is where some SEC games will be going once ESPN controls every game for football.

Streaming allows ESPN to control the platform.
Spectrum, UVerse, Dish, Direct TV….The list goes on are all ******** and use their platform as leverage for these media companies

ESPN now has control of the platform through streaming.
No middle man.

WVU in the Big 8. Have a shot at winning that league pretty much every year, even if they bring in a couple other teams. Probably will have to do that, as those that make the playoff rules will make a change to keep them out if they don't. ESPN, the nail in the coffin for college football. Woke Center is ruining sports.

Can't blame you there. Hopefully the B1G will wake up, and bring in WVU and one of the three of Kansas/Iowa State/Pitt, although I prefer WVU and Pitt. But, they'll do something stupid, and probably go with a couple freaks.

The Cal 4.
Schools want whoever will add to their bottom line.
That will be USC. USC from what is being said won’t leave unless the rest of the California schools follow.

The B12 should raid the ACC, financed by FOX…get ‘Cuse, BC, Pitt and VT For a true 12.

Stupid 2036 ACC ESPN contract of adhesion…

Boston College and Pitt need to drop down. Syracuse is iffy. But their chance to stay at the power conference level is very low
They haven’t came close to selling out the Carrier Dome in awhile. Their best year for attendance has only been 42K the last 20 years
Nostalgia aside there is no reason why anyone should want them in the conference

Those are the 3 main schools that Clemson fans want out of the conference

Listen gregory, I wasn't advocating to be in a conference with aac schools either going there or them coming here. I just responded to that particular post where he gave that scenario if it happened, and I said bring in that particular school for the last spot.

Lol...gotta love the we should discussion. WVU has no control over this. Fan base chest pounding is juvenile. Remember Rutgers in the B1g...wake Forest in the ACC...Vanderbilt in the SEC and on and on. Some WV fans are so backwoods thinking that they feel WVU is deserving because they actually went to a game once. WV is a pimple on an elephant's ***. We have a hard road to pull this one out.

The real issue is knowing exactly what the networks and providers want now. We don't know if they want better brand names for streaming, or if they want media markets for broadcasting purposes. In the last round of expansion it was the latter.

If it is the latter, that's where the problem come in. Currently, subscriptions to the conference networks (CNs) don't work as you are describing. You don't subscribe to the CN individually. It's part of a package with other channels.

The ACCN is already available in the Carolinas and Florida. Point being, most of the West Virginia fans living in those states already get the ACCN, because it's part of their cable/satellite package. That's how these CNs really make their money. They get 80 year old grandma who never watch the network to pay for it, because it's just part of a package.

For that business model to work, you need big markets. That's the issue with West Virginia. The market is very small. Even if every household in the state was subscribed to the network, that's nowhere the amount from markets like New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, etc. Even ticket sales for away games pale in comparison to the money those markets generate.

If it's a different business model, all this goes out the window. I just don't know if the business model has yet changed.
