I think Sterling wins this one big. Definitely one of the favorites in 5A

Sterling 6-0 against teams with a combined record of 15-21, Rochelle 5-1 against teams with a combined record of 19-17.
Sterling is a good team with good team speed and they are able to platoon a lot of players. Rochelle is a team who likes to play smash mouth football and have players playing both sides of the ball.
Nice cool night for high school football under the lights that should be a good game to watch for all who attend!!

What's the spread on this one? Can we get some 5A folks to weigh in? My bookie doesn't take anything west of I-39 and I'm jonesin' for some good ol' West NIB-XII action!

Should be good game like I said, but I'm sure Sterling remembers when Rochelle played them in the I think 06-07 playoffs, first round #1 seed Sterling lost to #16 seed Rochelle in front of a packed but quiet Stetling crowd.
But two completely different teams playing tonight for sure.

Hats off to Sterling!
Good team speed, great plays and their no huddle style of play had some Rochelle players getting winded.
They will do well in the post season for sure!!
Congrats to both teams tonight.

That was an interesting one for Sterling. A little sloppy at times (some self inflicted, some due to Rochelle) but nice to see the defense play well again and special teams have some big plays (2 punt returns). Also first time the starting defense has had to play a full game all year. Rochelle had them out on the field for a good portion of the game.

Yes the special teams for Stetling was huge for them. The Hubs sure did miss two starting players, o-line and d-lineman Burciaga and starting fullback Harvey, both lost to season ending injuries. But the Sterling D did a great job of not letting Rochelle get going. And props for Sterling slowing it down at the end and then taking a knee when they could have tried to push it in for another score.
Class act on their part for sure!
Can't wait to see what Sterling does to dekalb week nine.

Would have preferred to play rochelle when they had harvey and burciaga in the lineup. Those are two big losses for the hubs. Hats off to rochelle for playing hard even when the game got away from them. Their effort never waned. Good luck the rest of the way, iron. Sorry I missed you last night.
