Hard to root for you guys, just saying
Come on, they are excited as they should be. Lots of other people are annoying on here including me. My only grip is I wish the Sterling people would stick around all year, not just playoff time.

No need to get the popcorn ready. Everybody has their opinions. I'm a Cubs fan. Not going to root for the Cardinals. If someone isn't rooting for Sterling because of a message board thread (or maybe for some other reason) that's their choice.

As far as not sticking around all year, I think that's a product of the conference and past playoff results. NIBXII is borderline relevant to the board, usually have some solid 4a-6a teams but nothing flashy. And as far as the playoff results, Sterling hasn't ever made it past the quarters. Fans try not to get too excited through the year but expectations/excitement goes up come playoff time. They hop on here and post, a playoff loss follows and they go back in hiding. There's been quite a few heartbreakers in the quarterfinals and it's been tough. I know I have posted more recently but that was in defense of the school. That's over and done with now and I have to believe any other loyal fan base would do the same for their school.

I do wish anyone rooting against Sterling because of a message board would judge the players by their play on the field. They play hard and fast and play the right way. Regardless, looking forward to a good game Saturday. MCC is a tough place to play and they've been on a roll lately.

As a Sterling fan I would not say we dominated, it was probably the worst game I've seen Sterling play offensively, and Kaneland D held Sullivan to I believe just over 100 yards, However Sterling did have another running clock, it was 46-6 and Kaneland scored the last two TDs on the second team, I would say Kaneland held Sterling in check offensively and I think the wet field slowed Sterling down a lot, defense won that game. Offense just looked slower on grass. So what does a 9-0 season get you and a win on the road? Another road game! Is Woodstocks field turf or grass??

Probably the worst grass(mud) you've played on. Huge home field advantage to mcc always.

No one , we mean no one in the state wants to make that trip to MCC! Grass and any spec of water just increases the home field advantage...If what I’m reading is accurate that Sterling offense struggled on grass today next week will be worse, again if reports are true

I have no dog in the fight, but it sounds to me we have a town of 15,000 with "2" really good football teams and the Chicagoland area doesn't like it.

Well I would not say they struggled but they just looked slower, I suppose the rain fog wet and mud will do that, would way rather have this game at home no doubt but would rather have the semi final at home too If they win. MCC will be the best team yet they have faced I'm sure.

Forgot to say Thanks for the input, we will be hoping for dry conditions all week! I'm surprised they don't have turf?

How can a team’s D “hold Sterlings Offense in check” when that Team is getting running clocked? Did sterlings D have 2 or 3 Defensive or special teams TDs?

You will have to forgive me - I normally watch 7A and 8A ball and there are far fewer running clocks except for the truely huge mismatches (East Aurora vs Naperville Central for example.).

When I see a score of 46-6 or even 46-20 I think blowout, team got embarrassed etc etc.

Vodoo...a 30 yd int pick 6, a 103 yd int pick 6,a 54 yd fumble recovery for 6 and a int to the 9yd line that resulted in a td on the next play.Kanelands first play of the game was an int and Sterling scored about 5 plays later.

Between the mist and fog and 2 power failures,it wasn't a very good night for Kaneland.I may be banned forever since every time I go to a playoff game up there it results in a Kaneland loss.

Perhaps the most moronic post in years.
Sterling posters appear on the Edgy Board as chest thumping jerks, other posters react to the audacity and somehow a foxhole is your reality.
I am truly happy for the boys of Sterling that have no doubt worked hard and are enjoying success, and for the entire community getting to experience the excitement of playoff success.
Do not spoil it for them.

Wow thanks North! The “offense in check post” is making a ton more sense now with this context. That’s got to be extremely frustrating for the Defense.

Where did I thump someone's chest? I simply was modest and said the offense was held in check for the most part and D won the game, regardless of how they won, it was yet another running clock for Sterling.

Let's go Marion Central Catholic...enjoy the Bog Sterling Warrior

What's a bog? And to be honest, I feel like I've started nothing and I'm the one being picked on. Go back and read my posts, I didn't start this thread and have said nothing to disrespect anyone yet your giving me a chest thumping.

A Bog can have two slightly different meanings.

1. Soft wet ground that cannot support heavy bodies

2. A marshland or swamp

I think Jwar is referencing you might get “Bogged down” in your upcoming road trip.

I do believe they refer to the muddy conditions of MCC's field. And who care what others post. We go to face another very tough foe in their house. Boys have some work to put in this week at practice.

Sterling will be just fine playing anywhere, playing anyone, make them that much faster playing in the semis at home on turf. ........thump
