Funny how he gets overlooked in the Duke Coaching conversation. Marquette is 14-6, 5-3 and has beaten two top 10 teams in the last week.

Collins is not the only former Duke associate coach experiencing success.

Guys should be falling all over themselves to be coaching with Coach K.

His skill as a coach cannot be overstated. Duke has really struggled since he took medical leave for back surgery recently. Duke even lost at home to an N.C. State team that had itself lost to UNC by 50+ points just a few weeks before.

He's doing fine, no doubt, but the heaviest heavy lifting in MBB coaching is happening at NU.

Coaching matters. You watch Jeff Capel and his body language is terrible. He did make a good change benching 3 starters at the half after trailing Miami, but Duke isn't the same team without Coach K at the helm.

Wojo has done a remarkable job recruiting at Marquette.

Also heard a story about him visiting an NU practice this Fall. The team was scrimmaging and all the while Collins is talking to them about defense with Wojo a few steps away. Finally, Wojo jumps into the fray. Takes off his suit jacket, walks out onto the court and says, "that's not how you fxxxing play man-to-man you XXXXX!!!!!" And then gets up in the offensive players grill for a possession, thereby demonstrating proper technique and intensity. Like Collins, wound as tight as a top can be wound.

Would like to see NU play Marquette in non-conference play. Maybe Missouri and Cincinnati also.

It NEEDS to happen. So logical. The schools are geographically close (1.5 hours drive time) and comparable in size (undergrad), and both respected academically too.

It should be a "local rival”. It’s no further away from Evanston than Chicago State is, and a pretty nice destination downtown area of Milwaukee. Plenty of nearby bars for sure!

And the coaching matchup would be worth seeing for sure. Would Coach K be on hand along with Doug Collins?

Man, do I wish there were video of this. I wonder how common (or completely uncommon) this type of thing is. So many coaches have crossed paths with one another, and it's probably pretty difficult to get out of that mindset even in everyday life. I also wonder what the players thought about the whole thing.

No........ Wojo is doing a much better job at Marqutte, Fig...... he definitely would be a better candidate for the Duke job..... right? Of course he would.

In the face of such reason, I must admit that Wojo should get the Duke job!

But I question if he would be up to the task of cleaning the Augean stables at NU. Even more of a question is would he consider it.
