Sticking with CFB: Do you think that Reggie Bush and Lendale White were the best CFB RB tandem?

I know they're are many. The other that comes to mind is Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas. Of course Franco and Mitchell had a huge undefeated win streak.

But because of the National Championships I argue Bush and White.

Maroney and Barber III at Minnesota were great and

Miami's trio of Mcgahee, Davenport and Portis were tough.

They're my favorite but Harris's injury knocked them out for me.

Georgia had Todd Gurley, Sony Michell and one other guy who'se name I don't recall. I think they would be as good or better than most.

Enis and Harris are not in the top 5, even with Harris' knee injury.

First ones that I thought of were Archie Griffin and Pete Johnson back in the mid 70's. But then there were all those USC backfields of the 70's that one was featured and another waiting in the wings, Anthony Davis-Sam Cunningham, Anthony Davis-Ricky Bell, Ricky Bell-Charles White, Charles White-Marcus Allen.

Dozier/Thomas with Smith/Manoa was a nice combination as well.

Without defining a timeline, it’s going to be hard to beat Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis. Both won Heisman and their teams were undefeated for 3 years.

of course with the draft, Army did have an advantage.

Are we talking on the field at the same time? Because some of the mentioned pairs really weren’t.

Most likely in today's college football, one of them if not both probably would have transferred. This is the group I thought of when reading the thread.

Playing at the same time they're the best for one year (2005):

Bush won the Heisman Trophy after he rushed for 1,740 yards and 16 TDs, and had 478 receiving yards and two touchdowns. White more than held his own, rushing for 1,302 yards and 24 TDs.

And Bush should get his Heisman back.

No support for 1969's backfield of All-American Charlie Pittman, and sophomores Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell? That might have been Franco's best season as a RB at Penn State.

First we need to define tandem. Did they play in the same backfield? Did they play at the same time (alternate to give one/other a breather)?

I was in diapers and never saw them play college ball, but Floyd Little / Larry Csonka at Syracuse in 1965/66. Two wins over PSU.
