Still wondering what happened between Florida and Aberdeen

Florida do not seem to lack of money (they seem to be in driver seat for Fland)

And Aberdeen was a local kid for them

So what happened between the program and Aberdeen, in theory, Florida has enough money to pay for Aberdeen

we knew what happened when he committed to us, the UF insiders told the story that their negotiations broke down as he felt being a starter he deserved starters NIL and didnt get it so he felt disrespected , used going into the portal as a negotiation tool and UF didnt raise the offer so he accepted our offer.

Dont know why you keep asking when this is what people have been saying since then.

What others have said.

They brought in transfers who were making more NIL than him. He had just helped them win a national championship and was expected to start for them.

He felt slighted. Now he's on a mission to win back to back national championships.

You will see more of this as long as it stays the same system for now. We will see a kid from Florida move to KY, from KY to Ole Miss and so forth.

I am glad he is here as I think he will be extremely good this year on both ends of the floor.

They wanted a better player that’s the bottom line. We needed a role player and they need an elite player. There’s not much else to know. Some guys fit Aberdeen was at his ceiling last year he wasn’t going to replace Clayton jr

All I know is I went to summer camp not far from Aberdeen Proving Grounds, where it’s loud all the time because they’re testing so many long distance bombs and weapons. So I hope that holds here.

You’re so full ****. I wonder if you actually watch basketball or just like to troll. Aberdeen didn't even remotely come near to hitting his ceiling. He was just getting into his groove. That’s why he was on the court in crunch time

I always just thought it was as simple as Florida not valuing him at his market more then being a sign of their NIL capabilities.

They may prefer to pay 2M plus to a Fland or player X than a guy they kept on the bench a few years.

while that may be a little harsh on wildcat1st, I agree with his remark about them wishing to have a bonafide "elite" player, and they had him already. They didn't step up for the young man, he explored his options, made a choice. It empowers him to be in control of how far he can go.

and I agree he can go a LONG way with his career, moving to Kentucky to play and step into what will be an elite level - role, whatever you want to call it.

We will LOVE him being a wildcat next year.

It's the guys like Mo D and Aberdeen that have been beating us with the teams in our league. So, if you can't beat 'em, join them.

And just look at them and the team that CMP has in store for next year, it's obvious him and his staff learned some very important lessons. We're in good hands around here with players like him, for sure, absolutely 100% so.

Go Big Blue !

Relax there buddy. Don’t get so emotional and come on with the personal stuff.

Aberdeen wasn’t going to replace Clayton. Period. He’s a good player but he has isn’t the elite player they are actively tried to obtain. It’s that simple. Can Aberdeen get better? Of course but I’m a realist and he’s a dynamic role player. An extremely important piece for us but if he’s the pg at florida next year they probably struggle to be a top 25 team. They are putting their resources in a big way toward an elite player. Don’t get so caught up on the term “ceiling”. The bottom line is he was not replacing WC Jr.

sidenote : not to bury something like this in a random thread, but I moved to gilbertsville KY april 1. started seeing my high school sweetheart from 38 years ago, been going awesomely. Moved from Madisonville near where the last tornado hit morton's gap area few yesars back and it was wayyyyy too close for comfort. As I survived the tornado that hit east nashville many years ago, too .... this tornado and bad weather business ..... keeps concerning me.

I know Gilbertsville had a tornado hit bad here about 3 years ago, but it's so random in nature, and earlier today, it got scary here at the lodge where I dwell. I'm just glad to still be around to talk about all this stuff, is all I'm sayin.

stay safe from the weather everyone. it's got me duckin'

Well at UK we got our WCjr in Oweh and one heck of a cast around him. Aberdeen will be great for us next year probably our 3rd or 4th leading scorer and brings a lot of things that won’t be listed in the box score like a WCjr can do but will still need those type of players to win a title just like the team he was on last year he did for them. Not only that we have him at guard who can do work but Mo at forward also. Denzel, Mo, Oweh and he’ll any other two say Lowe and Jayden are all ultra athletic on the court together. Damn can we tip the season tomorrow I’m ready.

There are going to be so many possibilities for great games this year. Even preseason. It will hopefully work out great for UK and the team comes together very early, learns rolls and dominates all who dare get on the same court. I know UofL early will be weird. They should have at least gotten that game around Thanksgiving if they cannot do Christmas or New Years. Besides that the schedule should be very fun.

My favorite place in this world. I grew up in Paducah and spent most of my summers and weekends up at the lake. I worked on a towboat up and down the Tennessee River many years ago. I’m jealous you got back there.

No, you need to come off your high horse and realize you’re not the basketball savant you think you are. Your original post is a culmination of arrogant takes from you over the years. As far as Aberdeen not having the ability to replace WCjr then look no further than WCjr’s path to where he reached the pinnacle of his success. WCjr’s first year at IONA, he averaged 7 ppg and shot the 3 at a 35% clip. There’s no reason Aberdeen can’t follow the same trajectory. He’s infinitely a better athlete than WCjr.

He wanted more $ than Walter Clayton Jr was paid last year. Would anyone blame UF for not paying him that much $?

Thank you much BBNinSC !!!!!

I lucked out, living here at Ken Bar Lodge just outside the Kentucky Village area. After moving from Morganfield, I like it much better here now. The storms have been brutal since I arrived at the beginning of April, much rain (20+ inches right freaking here !), but I absolutely love it. Just off the edge of Kentucky lake, Dam isn't far away. I love hanging out at the marina park and the little nooks and crannies and walking paths I find. It's just great out here!

Lake country FTW !

That dude did not take enough heat for this. A National Championship will get you out of a lot of hot water.
I can tell by looking at him that he’s guilty.
I know we're all innocent til proven guilty, but that dude has never passed the vibe check. Thought he was a creepy bastard going back to the USF days.
Florida has handled this all like they know he's guilty and they just want to shut the story down and move on. Winning allows them to do that

You don’t like my takes because they came to fruition. The fact you think and try to argue Aberdeen can fill WCjr shoes next season. And you want to be taken seriously?

My take is florida wanted a hometown discount. Aberdeen wanted to get paid. He fits on the roster at Kentucky better than UF which along with the available NIL money made Kentucky the best fit.

You seem to think players can’t improve on their skillset even when I gave you an example of WCjr actually doing just that from Iona to Florida. You’re evaluating talent from the confines of your couch. Get over yourself.

That's what was said by the UF booster who is responsible for the majority of their hoops NIL.
No offense intended but that’s not a link. That’s he said, she said. Can you give us actual proof this is what took place?

Honestly that guy would have a motive to not be truthful. He would say yeah it's the greedy guy's fault who's the bad guy and not Florida's fault at all...
