See the link below. From the article:

”PITTSBURGH -- A year after signing him to a two-year extension, the Steelers released quarterback Mitch Trubisky, the team announced Monday.

The Steelers also released longtime offensive lineman Chukwuma Okorafor and punter Pressley Harvin on Monday. The moves saved the Steelers nearly $13 million in 2024 salary cap space.

With Trubisky's departure and late-season hero Mason Rudolph scheduled to hit free agency in March, 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett is currently the only quarterback on the Steelers' roster for 2024.

Trubisky, 29, was set to count more than $7 million against the Steelers' cap in 2024 and more than $8 million in 2025. Instead, Trubisky now leaves behind a cap hit of $4.6 million in 2024, saving the Steelers nearly $3 million.”

Rooney’s got this.

Releasing the punter was the biggest game day move out of these 3. He was terrible since he got to Pittsburgh. At least you could hide the others on the bench.

Has there ever been anyone with the first name “Mitch” that became meaningfully useful or important?

Talk this morning the Steelers could eye Justin Fields and/or Russell Wilson. Seems like the former may be a good fit for the new OC; the latter better for the salary cap. They need to make *some* move either way....

As a Bears fan I am all for them going after Fields but of course Da Bears will draft Williams and he will also suck.

I will say there is no chance they go after either Fields or Wilson. I think they are set with Pickett (for now) and will have either Rudolph or Tannehill as the vet backup. They will likely pick someone up with one of their two 4th round picks.

Schefter reported yesterday that they may pursue Tannehill due to the new OC’s familiarity with him. Tannehill’s best seasons were with Smith as OC. He also said that Tomlin really likes Fields. He said one thing is for sure, they will not go into the season with just Pickett.

Rumors are for a second rounder. I’m sure it would involve other picks, but if I’m Khan, I make that deal without hesitation.
He's affordable this season and if they want to pick up his 5th year it's reported to be around $22m. Besides Cousins, who's asking price will be $40m+, the QB free agent market stinks.

It looks like they trade for Fields, sign a (s)crappy veteran, or draft a QB. Option 2 is their usual route, but there's always hope. 🤞

I think trading for Fields has a lot of upside. I’d be on board with that. It would give the offense some life. They still need OL help. Draft a high ceiling OL with the first pick.

The center from Oregon is a mauler and would be a great fit but Dan Moore is a revolving door and they just released Chuks so OT is probably the 1st pick again. The center from WV is also really good. They really need a play making inside LB too. Getting guys off the scrap pile at that position like they've been doing puts so much stress on the rest of the defense.

Agree. They may be able to get the WV C after the first round?

I think he's projected 2nd round but he broke his leg last season so I'm not sure how that affects things. The Georgia center is also a good one so I think they can probably get one of the two if they choose.
