Anyone looking at Tootsie Roll? Lots of conversion on all sites. 45% of their stock is shorted

I’m buying more penn Monday. They’re going to end up being the biggest sports betting company in the world and will spread their influence across all forms of entertainment.

anybody have any tips on vastly discounted stocks right now?
Have to be patient, but EDUC, quality books for kids to read, wise parents know of the publisher. Would say LAKE, but already made a pretty good move last week.

what are the best etf’s?

The best performing one right now is ARKF (Financial Technology), but all of them are doing extremely well. If you just want to pick one I would go with ARKK because it includes all the elements of the other ETFs.

Pull up some of Catherine Wood's You tube videos for further info. That woman is a friggin genius IMO, she's the Elon Musk of the investment universe.

I'm thinking about adding some ARK ETF to my Roth IRA. How do the expenses work when I decide to sell? Is it taken out of the price? Is it a set commission fee?
I don't pay any fees when I'm trading stock in it but I don't know how it works with ETFs

I think the fee is .75 on all their funds. That's an annual fee but I'm not sure when it's debited. That's a little on the high side for an ETF but they are managed ETFs meaning they are moving in and out of stocks all the time and increasing and decreasing their positions as well.

Thanks. Maybe I'll do an online chat with Schwab to find out.

Perhaps artificial intelligence and deep learning are one in the same.

I'd say that "deep learning" is a branch of AI. IMHO, AI without the "learning" ability part is not what's being referred to as "deep learning" in that quote from Catherine Wood.

In re to AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning.......

"The easiest way to think of their relationship is to visualize them as concentric circles with AI — the idea that came first — the largest, then machine learning — which blossomed later, and finally deep learning — which is driving today’s AI explosion — fitting inside both."

"Deep learning has enabled many practical applications of machine learning and by extension the overall field of AI. Deep learning breaks down tasks in ways that makes all kinds of machine assists seem possible, even likely."

"Thanks to Deep Learning, AI has a bright future."

A little more risk off as I sold 25% of ALB and FCX today after nice gains. Been adding to AGG in one IRA.

Picked up some APHA shortly after initially reading this post and doing some research on it. Great suggestion @jameslee32, only wish I would have bought more. 🍻

My MJ ETF has been doing well as well. Up >51% over the last month......>102% over the last 6 months. CGC has done so extremely well for me over the last several yrs. Still, I wonder if this sector is hyped prematurely. I wouldn't be surprised to see it come down before it finally goes up for good.

I had initiated a long SPY puts and long UVXY calls trade at end of December using Feb expirys. Other than being in the green briefly early on after initiating the trade, the rest of the time was in the red. Last week both went back to a nice green color and was able to close them out for a profit.

Yesterday starting moving money back into SPY Puts and UVXY calls using Mar 19 expiration. Also inititiated a long puts trade on TSLA, using three different expiration date sets: Feb 19, Mar 19 and Apr. 16.

Have added to SPY long PUTS here this morning. Watching the QQQ here with the eye on that 330.32 intraday high from Jan. 25th.

Just sold to close the TSLA Feb 19 puts for a double. Still holding the Mar 19 and Apr 16.

Dark red on the Mar 19 SPY PUTS and UVXY calls. Still holding.

Just curious what you guys think about the nose dive cannabis stocks are taking today? What is causing that? Is this a normal market correction? Are they too volatile? Does it have anything to do with the internet/reddit/WSB guys?

There wasn’t really a reason to go up in the first place. The whole reason they ballooned was due to the Democrats taking over.....speculating that they would pass legislation. But it’s likely that legislation is still a way off. The entire sector will likely to continue to be very volatile until it goes up for good.

Yes many pot stocks are quite volatile and they were that way before Reddit. I think of them as pure speculation maybe other than CGC and CRON because of the cash investments made by their partners.

Thinking about selling some Tesla shares. It's been relatively stagnant lately and want to use the funds to invest in something that's moving upward.

Could be sector rotation temporarily out of sin stocks, gambling stocks down after the Super Bowl, too. Some analysts opined that legalization might actually hurt some US cannabis stocks, no opinion by me on that, I hold IIPR and GTBIF.

That seems at odds to what's possible in the US market not to mention the rest of the world. Definitely not a core holding yet nothing wrong with dipping a toe in this space. I also own a little IIPR and always looking for more ways to play. Maybe an ETF.

I think the cannabis sector went up because Tilray had a deal to export medical marijuana to the UK. Also I heard something about a short squeeze as well. Probably people taking quick profits today.

I had each of them in my portfolio several times for profitable swing trades. I use the stop/loss to maintain profits. I just can't make myself hold when they drop, which in turn prevents that long term investment result. A fault that I am aware and attempting to address.

CCIV jumped 26% today as the Lucid Motors merger gets much closer.

QS jumped 21%

The FOMO on CCIV is crazy. I was sort of asleep at the wheel a bit and got in at 17 and thought I was a bit late to the game ... and now it's over 40 and the DA hasn't been announced yet.
