Recruiting is already suffering. Players have too many options with piles of cash waiting for them to take a gamble on us right now. And it looks like playing for us is a gamble at the moment. This isn't Kentucky basketball right now.

One, if I were Tyran Stokes watching this team you couldn’t pay me 22 million dollars to come here.

Two, I’ve always said since Spring that none of the outcomes match and we didn’t really have $22 million to work with or anything like it. However, if we actually did have a whole 22 million dollars with no strings attached, if that’s truly what we had to work with, then Mark Pope spent it in the most foolish way possible. How did that happen?

I wouldn't be shocked if other coaches are putting it into recruits' ears that Pope might not be around much longer.

I have no idea how it will all shake out, but it's not looking great. And Pope wasn't closing on top recruits before the ugly losses and drama. Opposing coaches may not be wrong, either.
If I were recruiting against UK I would never the recruit that Pope might not be there.

I would want Pope to stay. Like they all wanted Tubby to stay.

Not if you wanted a recruit badly enough. It's a situation where as a coach you weigh the benefits of a recruit being a part of YOUR program, against the possible benefit of said recruit not having any impact on your program.

Thinking about Pope pulling up to Stokes' crib with a chess board makes me chuckle.

Pope and this dude would be the oddest pairing imaginable.
Shows how much you know. My second cousin’s best friend goes to school with Mark Pope’s son-in-law and I know for a fact that Pope and Stokes play GTA Online together. Earlier tonight they were doing a live reaction to The Game’s new mixtape and discussing whether or not Kendrick Lamar will be doing a diss track in response. Pope is about that lyfe.

Talent be damned. Acting like this in high school what does he think a college student section will do. Imagine the first time he gets his rear tipped for something. Go for Collins and move on
Your first sentence contradicts your point. He is in high school. They act goofy sometimes at this age. He will mature with the right coach. Nothing to see here.

I guess I see a 17-18 year old who is passionate about winning and who is somewhat age appropriate immature.
I would rather have someone who needs his maturity coached up than trying to find his passion.

You contradict yourself you think college student sections don’t act goofy. Come on now if this gets under his skin and doing a side dance doesn’t look good. Turn the other check. Right Nothing to see here move on from Stokes

Let me guess it’s all fine rah rah even after mountains of rumors it’s just kid stuff everyone is wrong. Nothing to see.

You aren’t objective you’re just extreme in the same direction every time.

Guess you was against Boogie coming here too..
Hmm, I guess what I’d say is Boogie is probably an exception and it could have gone south. Boogie has a totally different personality though. Not all head cases are the same. Boogie went through real sht growing up and didn’t even play basketball until he was older. Simple case of being in flight/ fight/ fight (in his case) mode growing up . I get the sense that this guy is different. Seems to always have an issue everywhere he goes and he’s been pampered for a long time, or so I’ve heard. Also heard a lot about his outside of basketball stuff and it’s nothing like Boogie. Boogie wasn’t involved in a lot of outside nonsense. Speculative.

Could be why Collins is slow playing it.
He’s not coming because of the JMi deal. Both Stokes and Collins were ours and then they got into the contract specifics of what JMi entailed and they said hell no. We won’t get them now, everyone else is committed and no 5 stars will agree to that JMI stipulation they give up their likeness. Mitch Barnhart should be fired over this right now. He should have been fired 15 years ago.

Yep. You can forget getting elite players from the looks of it and I know some guys who have said they don’t expect elite players to sign here until it’s figured out. It is 100% something some media / boosters are highly concerned with. Barnhart admitted they can’t even wear the logo for an ad shoot unless it’s JMI permitted and they want all players to do deals with JMI partners and pressure them to do so. This is not like the rest of the conference who did everything they could to accommodate. JMI wants exclusive rights to these players a the players are saying no. And because of that, we’re signing mid players who don’t have better options.

Mitch has killed Kentucky basketball as we’ve known it and he did it for a little extra cash. And he’s been doing this for years, signing away UK to anyone who will pay some cash. No doubt he’s going to be one of the first to want to sell to private equity if it makes them a little richer. Our BOT and administration care nothing about winning. They’re fine with being the Cincinnati Reds as long as people come out. Due to the contracts they’re already maintaining record profits, and probably won’t even care if over the next 10 years we have a 15% reduction in asses in seats at Rupp.

They see football selling well without a shot at the playoff. What do you think that makes them think about basketball? We’re coming regardless. We are our own worst enemy. It’s why I won’t watch the games until Barnhart is gone and the contract is renegotiated. I’ll patch it together outside of them getting that mark checked. No hypocrisy here.

Mitch has been slowly destroying Kentucky basketball for 20+ years. It’s amazing how many didn’t notice it while he’s advocated to lower expectations in their face the entire time. Anybody ever see Mitch say missing all of these final fours is on him and it’s being fixed? Nope. Why do you think that is? This isn’t about “not cheating” it’s about keeping all money in house for Mitch and his partners. They want none of it going elsewhere. They hate the NIL and aren’t going to allow it.
