They often were. Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt were fired after losing to UK in their final season- which coincide with our last three wins against Tennessee. The last two coaches at Florida were fired because their record wasn't up to par and losses to Kentucky were absolutely a major issue with respect to their record. And on another note 38-7 had absolutely zero to do with the Napier firing- you have no idea what you're even talking about. He had already been fired.
I mistimed Napier. Fine

Before you call me out check YOUR facts. Dooley wasn't fired after losing to UK. He coached another season at UT and was fired after that season despite beating UK.

Butch Jones was fired in 2017 after a MO loss.

pruitt was fired after losing to other teams and was fired for cause after the Liberty Bowl for NCAA violations.

4-1 vs Florida in last 5 years. I suppose they were all bad Florida teams even those that were ranked. Easy to dismiss what Stoops accomplished at UK. Last 6 coaches at UK without back to back winning seasons. Multi 10 win seasons. Broke 31 winning streak vs Florida. Remember the 0-10-1 season? How about the 50-0 halftime leads by Florida. Or the 8 straight bowl games? UIK FB has sucked since the Bear was run off. Stoops did more for UKFB than any coach in UK history. I know, haven't missed a game since the Bear's last season. But haters going to hate just like you and several other haters here. Hope the next coach as much success as Stoops had

I'm with you to here

but I doubt he will. Doubt UK will have a 6 win season in the next 5 years. I'm not buying the hype, much like Pope until I see results.

I have no idea who or how they'll recruit, what kind of D they'll run, and how they'll handle the expanded SEC schedule when it goes to 9 games. No idea what the identity of the team will be and if they can build it quickly.

I haven't seen much hype, but I don't expect them not to try to build momentum right now. They need to "sunshine pump" as much as possible and fans that want the program to succeed need to buy into it. It's really not going to physically hurt if fans aren't negative every day leading up to a season. It's OK to be disappointed some times when you tried your hardest.

And Florida were all loaded with many , many more 5* player than UK ever dreamed about. Just proves my point about Stoops with much less talent to work with. Thanks.

Yep. UF is typically top 15 in the country every year. UK hasn't come close to that, although they had some stellar classes BY COMPARISON to past UK classes at least on paper.

Florida recruiting-

"Top 6 class in 2020
Top 10 2021
Top 15 2024" even when switching HC

"They generally trail only Alabama and Georgia within the SEC in most years but remain a strong contender for top talent, competing with LSU, Texas A&M, and others."

He left way more then Joker left Stoops…that was a bare cupboard

joker

NFL tal
Bud Dupree
Avery Williamson

Solid college players
Darian Miller
Young Patrick Towles
Mister Cobble
Farington Huegenin

the rest was a mess. The worst skill guys you can get at sec school

Stoops leaves
established Qb in cutter boley

Solid college talent
3 solid young wr…Gilmore and the miller kids
Willie Rodriguez
Jaylen Farmer

Humphrey-Grace
Gadsen
Jared Smith
Ty Bryant

High rated young kids in Cam Dooley and Q Scott

so there are holes for sure (Oline , RB , DB). There are way more legit players of what Stoops leaves behind. …and in today NIL world…you csn plug a ton easier then 14 years ago.
Nice breakdown kudos.
We definitely have some talented players on last year's roster otherwise they couldn't have beaten Auburn, and Florida as well as playing Texas to a tie in regulation. There are a lot of good pieces here that I'm sure Stein and staff will try to hold onto. But I'm confident that they will bring in what is needed to fill out a roster to fit their system, and it seems they have been working hard on that already.

Just 1, I don't think so.
If they win 2, it was almost definite.
It didnt have to come down to the last two games.. It started with Ole Miss, we were up 7, settled for a field goal, based on some crazy idea that they should run into the middle and didnt gain any ground, and the ready to set on that lead and win.. aint happening.. Then in OT with TX, a run to the 3 yl, and totally into the middle of the line to come out with no points..

Absolutely agree. Never disagreed with that.

Before the season I thought we had a chance to beat TX and play OM down to the wire. The matchups were there for us. The play calling was abysmal. Those 2 games wound up defining the entire season either way.

Doesn't change my thought that he'd still be here if he won the last 2 games.

On a side note, does Stoops have any job offers yet? You'd think he would have some DC offers.
