I believe Coach Stoops, or any coach deserves at least 5 years to turn a program around. How about Joker! The difference between Joker and Stoops, was Joker wasn't recruiting a lot of 3 and 4 stars, and was left with more talent then Stoops was. Stoops has done a great job recruiting, but it hasn't showed in W's and L's. It has to start or Stoops will be on the hot seat.
A loss to Southern Miss. would start the fans screaming for someone else. Failing to get to a bowl would produce the same result. One thing that will get a coach replaced is lack of fannies in the seats. I believe we were down 13 or 14 % on season ticket sales from last year. That tells me the shine has worn off the hire of Coach Stoops as the savior of UK football. Some of his calls last year didn't help. Several times he looked like he was in over his head.
He now has the coaches he wants, so I and a lot of other fans are looking for improvement. Even with a bad year, I still feel he deserves one more year after this, to prove he is the coach for Kentucky.

anyone that thinks stoops is on the hot seat is a moron. his buyout alone takes him off any hot seat.

If the man can't Coach by the end of this season. Hopefully Mitch can do an intervention, and get him some help. Maybe hire Parcells as a Mentor.

definitely not on the hot seat right now but there are scenarios in which he could find his way on it later in the year. Gotta stay away from more Vandy esque embarrassing coaching performances

He is not going anywhere this year, no matter what. Buyout is too much.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Thing is both Brooks and Joker had signature wins with poor talent recruited, Beating UT saved Joker for a year.
When the 2007 team took down a #9 L'ville and #1 LSU, a check should been written right there for improvements to the facilities.
A win over Bama would go a long way to give the fans some hope.

He MUST win tomorrow!!

The seat will get warm if we fail to show up against Southern Miss!

I'm hoping our team will want to show the world how much our program has improved over the last year. Stoops really needs a big season starting NOW!!

Brooks break came before wins in 07. A win against a mediocre miss state and average Georgia team propelled them to music city bowl (after 49-0 loss to lsu). Then beat Clemson in a home bowl game set the table for the upsets in 07. And Louisville finished 6-6 that year.

Joker had a signature win if you call it that against South Carolina. I think you could count stoops two wins over the game cocks as signature wins too. On the road the week after usc beat North Carolina who Clemson needed a big break on an I odds kick to escape and make playoffs. The South Carolina loss was the only regular season loss for unc.

And your really gonna say that a win over Alabama would go along way. I shouldn't of answered to a troll, but wish our fans had some common sense sometime. There is no way we are going to bama and win this year. But that don't mean we are not moving in the right direction.

Next year is the year to start evaluating coach stoops.

Hypothetical no bowl season but with a win over Bama. Would it calm the base?

Splitting hairs that SC team Joker won against did win the SEC East.
The SC teams Stoops beat went 3-5 and 1-7.

Poster used Louisville as a signature win in 07 for brooks. Pointing out they fished 6-6 in conference USA. The two wins over South Carolina still had spurrier. And the one from joker did include the best player in football (latamore) that year getting hurt and changed the outcome of that game

Ya Lattimore went down after spotting a 28-10 lead. UK then came back scoring 21-0 in the 2nd half.

UL was ranked #9 at the time, before falling apart under Kragthorpe in Big East play.

Never get uofl conference right. Lol. They change as much as most people do underwear.

Joker had a chance to get a big signature win against auburn, much like we did against Florida last year. But without latamore going out, no way we come back to beat use that year even with a super human Randell Cobb.

Jokers signature win was not SC Lattimore going out is what won the game for us. They fell apart after seeing that injury.
Jokers signature win is against UT. Had no QB and used a wide receiver as a QB and we won. Amazing win.

Ive seen his name listed as a "possible hot seat" in more than one publication. Including Lindy's Sports.

They said "When a school dumps 120 million dollars on stadium renovations and another 45 million on a new team facility a guy as smart as Stoops can see the writing on those shiny new walls saying that someone else will play with all the new toys if he doesn't at least get to the teeniest, tiniest of bowl games in his fourth year."

I know his buyout is a factor (another possible Barnheart jump the gun blunder) but I agree with the above statement.

If he can't get better as a coach he's gone. That or Mitch is. Shouldn't lose to ul when leading 21-0. Shouldn't lose at Vandy. Can not need a late comeback against EKU.

Year before that,.. the other half end of the season was a mess.

He needs someone help him understand how to be a coach, or become one.

I was with a UT friend of mine that day, we watched the first half then went to a Baylor/Texas Tech game at Jerry World. I told him at half that if UK won, Dooley should be fired. It was a great win. I'll have to see how the season plays out, I'd like to get some good wins and a bowl.

That is a popular view, but not factual or realistic. Fans are impatient for improvement, but that doesn't mean Stoops is on the hot seat. For contractual reasons (large buyout) AND other reasons, Stoops is safe until after Kentucky's 2017 season. Kentucky's offense will start to look like an SEC offense this year. But many fans are underestimating problems that remain on our defense. People see Chris Westry and Derrick Baity, and think the secondary will make up for our ineffective front 7. But no cornerback can cover an SEC receiver if the quarterback has 4-5 counts to stand and throw under minimal pressure. Better teams on our schedule will run the ball all day against us. But our offense will play better and move the chains this year. So no hot seat in 2016. But Stoops must win in 2017. As discussed many times, Stoops will get back about 19 returning starters in 2017, including an experienced quarterback. The starters will be more experienced and effective next year, especially our young linebackers. At least on paper, the situation in 2017 looks far better on both sides of the football. So I believe 2017 will be Stoops' breakout season. But if Stoops cannot win in 2017, then 2 bad things will happen. He will lose all his remaining recruiting edge, and no 1 in Kentucky's administration will see momentum in the program anymore. By that time, Stoops' buyout would be manageable. I think Stoops will win in 2017. But if he doesn't, that's when the crisis point would come.

The definition of "Hot Seat" does not necessarily mean being fired; as most have noted, Stoops buy out makes it difficult for the Administration to terminate him. There is no question that Stoops is under pressure, and it intensifies tonight, as the So Miss game is a "cannot afford to lose" event for his career. Mark might survive a loss short term in terms of his job, but the affect on team morale and recruiting could make further success more difficult.

On the other hand, a convincing win tonight could be a springboard for this team's confidence and result in a winning season ............a successful campaign this year would not only save his job, it could result in another contract extension.

Pretty much agree with first paragraph.
Not so much with contract extension.
