The amount of money is crazy for an OK coach with OK results. I know he has been great for UK and their historical standard but 8.6 million?
Mark Stoops is the "backup QB" of college coaches. He just keeps making money and doing nothing. Insanely, insanely smart of him to lobby for this (UK didn't need to do this he still had like 7 years left on the contract he just signed last year) before the SEC officially does away with divisions and goes to 9 conference games.
I'm not breaking a story or telling you all anything shocking here but once the SEC goes to 9 games he's going to get run out of Lexington. Now all UK has done has made it basically impossible to fire him. With UofL on the uptick and 9 conference games in his future UK fans better get comfortable with Stoops finishing 6-6 and 7-5 cuz he sure as **** ain't gonna be improving his record.

He’s elevated UK’s program, no question. He’s done so playing weak OOC opponents every year. He’s benefited greatly from UofL being down. He’s never won the East. He’s got a 32-50 SEC record. He constantly has players get in trouble. And he’s got questionable morals after cheating on his wife, and knocking up an intern.
