A lot of people in threads recently talking about Stoops being maxed out. That’s fine if you think that but why do you think winning the East will be an easy next step? Who is going to waltz into UK and do much better than Stoops has, especially if you acknowledge that we (UK) have a giant recruiting disadvantage in homegrown talent compared to most any other SEC team?
Winning the east is not an easy task, it’s why we’ve not done it under stoops. He’s a great coach to be happy to win 7-8 games a year but that’s about it.

The next step isn’t winning the east. Y’all trying to run before you walk. It’s gonna take baby steps. The next step in my mind would be starting and finishing a season ranked. I’ll include a top 15 recruiting class. Those are the next steps. This won’t happen overnight
Baby steps? He's in his 10th year. The program is built. . . For better or worse

Losing CRod and Will will move us to 6-6 next year I’m afraid. Even if we find a quality QB in the portal, Stoops will be happy with most games passing for less than 200 yards and let the modern game pass is by.

Stoops has us to the point where we consistently beat Vandy, Mizzou, SC, UL, MAC teams.

We are 50/50 or so vs Ole Miss, MSST, UF, Arky.

The next step IMO is to add some more wins vs UT, steal one vs Georgia, win a road game in the west.

I don’t see enough in Stoops to get us there. He has done a great job to get us where we are though.
I guess you want Joker back as coach.

It took 2 hall of fame coaches and 12 years for South Carolina to “take the next step”. That’s a program that has more instate talent than we do along with neighboring Georgia.
If we end up 8-4 with this ****** of an oline, that’s actually a sign of how solid the program is right now.
We are a half a second against Ole Miss and Levis sitting out from being 8-1 right now.

This. Today was a disaster in many ways, but a win is a win is a win. Add that it's an SEC road win and we should be happy. We used to lose these types of games. Cherish the wins.
Its just very hard for me , and others I'd expect , to enjoy a game we did win but did is in such a way that most level headed people know if were not for pure luck on that roughing the kicker call on the 2 yard line we prob lose that game ... due to a special teams total system failure that even good high school teams dont have .. we are a SEC team that cant kick a FG . Or get snaps to the holder or punter correct . And this isnt some new occurrence . And the man who has a done a very good job here still has no concept of time management or a vertical passing game . Hell of a defensive coach , solid recruiter . but he''s as far as it gets . We either decide this as good as it gets or take a shot with a younger guy that understands modern offense .

Stoops has built about as strong a foundation at UK as i could imagine given our limitations. What we has set up is a program that can compete and possibly win an SEC East at some point in a down season for UF, UGA,UT. Or catch lightning in a bottle for a season and have one of those special teams. Missouri did it twice I believe, USC has done it. No reason why that can’t happen here at some point with where he has this program. But if you’re expecting to compete for an SEC title year in and year out I think your expectations are too high.

I can agree with you on the special teams aspect. It’s way past time for him to hire a special teams coach.

8-4 in this era of college football isn't the flex we think it is because we can schedule 3 wins, 4 max. Enough to beat Vandy, Mizzou in SEC, and UL and get a participation trophy bowl. Gotta demand more, and hire better. Jump hard on NIL
8-4 is top third of Power 5. While it’s not a great season, it’s still pretty good.

Next step is to not have a bad loss every year shd constantly be in the top 25 imo.

This is how stoops has fooled most of our idiot fan base. Win games against 3 stinky teams + Vandy + Mizzou + UL + Miss St or USCjr = 7+ wins and a stoops extension. Our fan base is so happy to be mediocre!
Well how many of these idiot supporters have seen a coach in their lifetime that can consistently do this?

Most of my life we couldn’t manage 8 wins from the MAC.

Maybe being “mediocre” as you call it is much better than winning 3 games and saying next year will be the year we make it back to a bowl game.

Which coach did we win the east under?

If you’re watching the Tennessee-Georgia game then something you need to realize is we are never going to beat those two teams. Whole other league right there. We are not competing with either in the next 25 years
Woah. You’re giving waaaay too much credit to tenn. They are the entitled brat who has been poor for the last 10 years but just inherited money from a rich uncle.now we have to see if they invest smartly or if they blow the new money

Not so sure after watching Ga and their staff embarrass Tenn

Why?

They aren't significantly more talented than us. In fact we are st many positions. It's coaching and scheme.

Anyone who didn't see that coming yesterday doesn't pay attention but he's years ahead of schedule and a decade ahead(and counting may never get to what they did thos year already) the Stoops model..

Any UK fan who complains about being 8-4 is delusional
I mean it's better than a losing record...but this might be the best roster in UK history and it is disappointing that the best we may do is 8 wins.

To make it to the next step Stoops MUST dump his offensive philosophy and realize how important scoring is in 2022. It's no longer a defensive game , but an offensive one.

We damn sure wouldn't have lose to South Carolina and Vanderbilt

At home
He made a couple crappy hires on offense, it sucks that Will played hurt, the OL can't block, and the OC was a dud when we were this talented

Same can be said with the offense. Get MODERN.
MODERN is the most overrated and unimportant term. You can play winning football with any style as long as you have good players that execute. What even is modern? I suppose tenn has a modern offense and they got their **** pushed in by Georgia’s traditional offense. Mississippi state has a modern offense and they got their **** pushed in by stoops.

It’s a stigma. It means nothing
