Stop the anger toward pope

And redirect that toward Barney. He has to go if UK bb is going to have a resurgence. He has played games with one of the most important things to Kentuckians. Our tradition is far longer than Barney’s quarter century as ad under which our bb program has been well below Kentucky standard.

Barney needs his name stripped which is ridiculous in and of itself, name stripped Barney canned tomorrow. The easiest move possible. But we have to demand it. It has to become a political issue almost. Barney the outsider has hoodwinked bbn to squat as our below average ad, a man who is named in a rape lawsuit against UK and the swim coach.

Does anyone even remember where this guy came from? We need a Kentuckian in these spots so that we know they are doing what’s in the best interests of Kentuckians. Trust has been severely eroded and Barney now appears to have a whiff of corruption with his JMI deal amongst other things.

If UK fans and boosters continue to fear Mitch he will be here to break the longest ad record. We need boosters to run ads against Barney like it’s election season. Yeah it would be great to bring in a great coach but Mitch Barnhart has to be the biggest ego in the AD dept. this guy is the one who needs to go and it’s a head scratcher that he continues on. It is some major bs.

I can get on board with that. If somebody called me and said they wanna hire me to be a nuclear physicist and pay me millions I would say I don’t know a thing about that sir. If they said that’s not a problem just show up I sure as hell would be a nuclear physicist right now.


Can’t be mad at Pope but he does need to be fired.

I can do two things at once. I agree Mitch needs to go but I disagree that we shouldn't be upset with Pope. He has **** the bed so far this season. This team is the only UK team I have ever seen that can make a nailbiter of a game, boring to watch. That is 100% on Pope.

That's the point in which you are saying you are truly putting the university first and I think that would be the toughest decision of his life with his personal playing experience at the university. I wouldn't be shocked if he did and I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't.

If he did, I believe he'd step away for coaching for an extended time.

If he doesn't do the right thing by resigning (assuming the season continues down this path), then I fully agree that he needs to hear about it. He loves Kentucky basketball and this job has already made him very wealthy, so he absolutely should do the right thing.

You beat me to it. Mitch needs to be fired, twice now he has been careless with our basketball program with bad hires that made no sense. Then, the 2 lifetime contracts.

But Pope gets plenty of blame here. He was given 22 million to build a roster and he failed miserably. He’s also showing he is in over his head. He can’t handle this job and it’s becoming more and more obvious.

you're missing the point. He's not good enough coach for this level of program, It was his dream job. Why would he say no? The blame for this falls on the AD who hired a coach that was a good 10-15 years away from being qualified for this job.

I feel like I need to clarify this. I think Mitch should end this. That's his job. If not, then I think Pope needs to step up and understand that BBN is ready to move on. I just have absolutely no faith in Mitch. He probably thinks everything is fine since he doesn't seem to have an ounce of competitiveness in his body.

I despise Barnhart and want him gone more than anyone but bitching about him does no good because he seems to be untouchable. That moron can screw up as much as he wants and nothing happens to him.

Therefore I’m taking my anger out on the person who can be fired. Pope knew what he was getting into. It is what it is.

UK needs to be gutted from top to bottom. I mean from the school president (Eli Capilouto), to Mitch and anyone who has been with him or is loyal to him, down to Pope and his entire staff.

Pope is just who he is. Who hired him? I think this is the point being made here and it's valid. Pope is just in over his head and that's not his fault ... he's just not qualified for this job. Barnhart is always looking for the easy and defensible hire ... that's why we've had too many bad ones under his watch. Barnhart needs to go first and probably the president if he chooses to enable the current status quo in the Athletic Department.

Barnhart is the problem! Pope is a good person and was a good basketball player but he’s not a good coach. No one blames Pope for taking the job! The blame is on our lazy Athletic Director for not doing a better job getting a good coach!!!! I hope the Boosters step in!

I understand but Barney isn’t untouchable. He’s faced very little scrutiny from BBN like all his coaches have. We need the press to grow a pair and go after Barney. It is outside of normal to have a quarter century AD and it’s under his watch we have missed tournaments and had a losing season. This spans over multiple coaches. The guy has got by on 10 win fb seasons. Well the best one we vacated. I mean this clown self reported things that are small compared to nil. Kentuckians need to take power back. Like I said the president Barney neither ate Kentuckians. They are both transplants. And they will hand power to the next outsider unless Kentuckians stand up. Barney is not a sports guy. He is an abject failure as a sports guy. He’s a bean counter and bean counters (accountants) are control freaks.

There’s a reason why other ADs love him. Makes their job easier. Kentucky is becoming people’s homecoming game.

Pope needs to step down before his family starts encountering the crazies. I would never take any of this that serious but ik some really crazy fans. People willing to go to jail. Ignorant as hell yes. Doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Yeah, piss off. I have enough anger for both of them. I can be angry at Mitch because he made a lazy a$$ed hire. I can be made at Pope because he talks and acts like the worlds biggest pu$$y while robbing the university of $6M and pissing away a $22M roster. They both suck and both need to go and never come back. Pope might have been a captain on a championship team, but that team would’ve won the title had he never played a second. He got his chance at his dream job, and rather than performing like a captain he’s performed like a petulant child. Piss on him. He doesn’t deserve pity or gratitude or anything. Just GTFO so we can hire your replacement and be better for it.
