Great article. I found it interesting that when Collins sighted similar academic institutions that have sustained success it was ND and Virginia and NU football - no mention of Duke.

Thanks. That is one of the best articles I have read yet on where we are this season. I liked that it expanded into the facilities upgrades as well.

Thanks for sharing. That's a good article, and clearly written by someone who is paying attention. The stuff about the facility upgrades was nice to hear about, but it disappointed me knowing that next year - which could be a very special year for the team - will be spent away from Evanston. They could even be preseason top 25, according to Seth Davis and about 50 people here!

Mike Greenberg, unexpected voice of reason!

“I hear way too much unbridled optimism for my taste,” Greenberg told me by phone on Sunday night, a few hours after Northwestern won at Ohio State for the first time in 40 years to remain in third place in the Big Ten with a 5–2 record (16–4 overall). “There are way too many people saying, ‘This is the year,’ I keep thinking, let’s just win a game this week. Let’s win another two or three games. I’m trying to focus on the here and now as best I can.”

We wouldn't want any unbridled optimism in the fan base. People might start standing up at games to cheer.

Mike Greenberg, Debbie Downer!

(I'm in the minority that thinks Greenie is WAY overrated as a sports host)

where is xyzbobxyz to remind us about the more difficult schedule in the 2nd half of the b10 season? and how we haven't proven we can beat anyone good yet?

I would like to think that he's paying attention, but GBN HS isn't 25 miles from Evanston as it says towards the beginning of the article. It's about 10 miles. Maybe 25 minute drive?

I pointed that out to Seth in a tweet and he changed it. Check out his replies in the thread.

Thanks, Lou. Glad to see Wildcat Report on the forefront of journalistic accuracy!

I was wondering whether this was one of those alternate facts I was going to have to learn to live with.

Sean Spicer reported that it was 1,200 miles.
