I was a little confused by this as it seemed too early for fall grades to have been entered but maybe he made the grades after summer, and there just wasn’t a spot since Jacquez had committed by then? Or was it just a really tight combination of timing with Soares getting good fall grades, Jacquez getting a non qualifying SAT, and all that just before early signing day?

Great to have a jumbo athlete like Soares in the class. I think he will be able to perform a variety of roles.

Jaquez would have been a welcome addition too. After watching his film again, he really projects as 4-3 DE, and could probably play in a 3-4 with a bit more beef. He's already a pretty big kid as a HS senior (listed at 240). Unlike Soares, he's probably not suited for the Joker/Jack LB in a 3-4. So more flexibility with a guy like Soares.
