I liked his comments about not being able to choose a rivalry. He says you have to play your way into a rivalry, they haven't done that yet and he "longs" for that to happen. I think the same is somewhat true for Penn State these days. tOSU and Michigan are already "taken". I feel like the closest "rival" these days may be Iowa. Michigan State has beaten PSU frequently also but Iowa is pretty consistently the tougher opponent.

Any chance we can get them to spell "Schaino" correctly? The got it right more than they got it wrong but I counted ~4 misspellings in the article. That shouldn't happen.

OSU would logically be our rival based on being blue blood programs in the same division with overlapping recruiting territories. However, we rarely beat them. We would never replace TSUN, but the series would mean more if we didn't give up significant 4Q leads and made better calls on 4th down.

OSU should always be a rival, but like you said will never be the rivalry, Maryland or Rutgers should they ever reach our level would make the most sense.

Our only rival is this corrupt conference. Get out now so we can go back to playing who we want, when we want, with legit referees. Find some other patsy to rob of their bowl money for non-football issues.
There’s only one major issue. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Someone with more knowledge on the subject can correct me if I’m wrong but if you carve out B10 revenue sharing from the AD’s budget you will have to shut down at least four or five non-revenue Olympic sports.

You don't think Penn State can get $$$$$$$$$$$$$ without the Big Ten? Notre Dame is doing fine without the Big Ten, and they have a smaller stadium than we do. We can get a TV contract, and we wouldn't need to share it with Indiana and Rutgers and Minnesota. I think we can set up 8 really, really good games - play 4 of them at home, 4 away, and then play 4 games at home against schlubs like Pitt, Rutgers, Ohio University, Central Michigan, Northern California Technical School for Mimes, etc. With 8 home games, we'll be pulling in a bunch from the gate. With a long-term TV contract, we'll be making (and keeping) as much as any team. With 8 games against Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, USC, Texas, etc. WITH FAIR REFEREES, LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS, we should make NY6 bowls every year. And we would keep all of that money. And if some ex-assistant coach of ours gets accused of breaking a law, no one can steal that bowl money.
