So, I'm really wanting to cut the cord.

I watch maybe 5-10 channels total. My concern is that when NFL, NBA and ESPECIALLY UK season rolls around, I'll be dealing with a grainy picture or god forbid, buffering during a big game.

Those of you who have done this, do you get all of the UK games? Is the picture clear? Any issues?

What services is best?

I've been streaming cable since 2015, if your DirecTV goes out when it storms then you'll have less problems streaming (assuming you have decent internet).

The only thing you'll run into is a short delay, maybe 10-15 seconds, so you could have things spoiled occasionally on Twitter.

Same thread, same info.

But one new thing, it appears Spectrum and other cable companies are getting a little scared. Consumer Reports did an article about them adjusting their services to compete, because they won't be able to just double their internet fees.

Consumers can finally call their "who else will you go to" bluff.. and prices are starting to even out.

I’ve researched this ad nauseam. Not yet pulled the trigger but I think I can answer your specific concerns.

There are a couple services that carry the essential channels to cover all UK football and basketball. Not sure on NFL as I don’t watch that as much. I think the HuluTV and one of the options thru Sling TV carries the SEC network and all the essential espn and sports channels. They each have packages and such but really if you have the ESPNs and SEC Network now you care covered for pretty much every game. Also take into account the local channel availability now and then the occasional CBS game is also covered.

My big thing is this—when I pay for the high speed Internet (roughly $100 thru Comcast in Florida) and the cost of these streaming packages it really doesn’t turn out as some huge savings. Maybe, if I were to really go bare bones streaming package wise, I could save $50-75/month.

That’s a fairly decent shift in the way I watch TV and programs for not a huge return. Also I take into account my phone is bundled on this BS package I have and honestly I’m not sure it’s worth it for me. But that’s just me. I hate Comcast with the burning heat of 1000 suns, they are pretty much the Devil. If I could justify it I would switch in a second. Just have trouble justifying it in my mind. JMHO.

Stuart Erway who works for Metronet hooked me up, I think his name on here is stuway.
Got faster internet and saving money with a 100% buffer free policy. So glad to finally ditch Spectrum, And he also helped me setup Hulu Live for 45$ a month to cut the cord.

His number is : (859) 494-1933

I tried all of the free trials 1 1/2 years ago. Most of the formats sucked. Channels didn't have numbers, so you would have to scroll through the entire list. Hopefully they've improved.

If you have a family with teenagers and everyone has multiple devices, watch out for data.

Comcast internet comes with 1T data. Thats 1024G. After that, you're charged in 10G increments or signup for unlimited at twice the bill.

You say, "How the **** would you ever need 1T of data?"

Teenagers streaming and gaming simultaneously while adults watch Netflix and facebook.

We hit 1T in June and July with everyone out of school. I had to ban wifi the last three days of June and five of July.
We're at 479G through 2 weeks of August. High school has started and college can't get here quick enough.

You got somebody tearing up RedTube.

My router breaks data down to app and device. Web use is minimal.

I’ve used sling for the last few years with no real issues, minus a few price hikes. The orange package has espn (2 and 3) and then I added on the sports package (carries SEC network and several other sports stations). I’ve never missed a UK b-ball or football game with it, but I am not sure about pro sports.

Spectrum Internet paired with Youtube TV. Havent missed any UK games that I can remember. Picture is as good as satellite, can DVR, set timers etc. Monthly payment was cut in half - I'm spending like $105 a month for internet and TV. They have a free trial, check it out before you cut the cord, easy to setup and you wont be anything to try it.

If Att U-verse is an option in your area check into it, just got Att internet plus 300 channels including SEC Network, ESPN, Fox Sports, and all the locals for $107/month. Which is basically the same I was paying for Spectrum and Sling with half the sports options and no locals.

I have Hulu Live, Netflix and Amazon. We have 100GB speed with Spectrum, that should be a minimum you have. We also have a new Amazon Fire Cube that fixed some latency and buffering issues we had with an old Amazon Fire Box. Those three work well for us. The kids watch alot of Netflix, I watch Hulu most times. Every service has a free trial, so I would try each first.

My mom had that service in the past and they jacked up their prices after so long just like Spectrum does. It must have went up above Spectrum's price because she ended up back with Spectrum.

YouTube TV 49.99 and Windstream internet 46.93. The only channel YouTube doesn't have that I like is the History channel and SEC alternate channel. Not crazy about Windstream but I'd had it with Spectrum. My bill with Spectrum used to be $155/mo for internet and cable with a dvr hd box.

I'm locked in for a year, then the plan is to call and threaten to leave and get another year.

I have PSVue. $45 a month and includes SEC network so I don’t miss any games. Beats the hell out of $120 direct tv used to charge.

I did "the dance" with Time Warner/Spectrum for years. Every year my bill would increase I'd call and threaten to cancel and would at least get a few bucks knocked off a month (even though it was still going up). But last fall they finally called my bluff. I'd try different reps and the same thing. Totally stonewalled. Did some research and I think everyone else was too.

But YouTube TV is awesome. As soon as I heard about it coming to the Evansville market I canceled Vue and switched over and I'm very happy. The fast forward/rewind function made it superior to Vue. I couldn't stand not knowing where I was in a program when I was skipping ahead. It has a great sports package too. I don't recall missing a single UK football or basketball game last season.

I never thought I'd cut the cord. But once cable/internet starting approaching $200 a month I did it as a matter or principle. Spectrum gets revenge with the internet price (mine's $70 a month) but it's fast and reliable at least.

YouTube TV + Spectrum internet. Bump up the internet speed and even with that, it saved me $160 from DirectTV. Supplement any gaps with Netflix. And because my wife loves her Amazon, I also have Prime.

Haven’t missed one UK game and haven’t missed DirectTV.

How many screens can you watch at one time with YouTube TV? Do all the TVs have to be smart TVs or can you use a Roku or something?

You guys with Youtube TV must not have a wife who watches Hallmark movies.

I've had DirecTV Now since it came out so I've got 100+ channels for lowest price. Problem is their lowest price has went from $35 to $40 to $50 in the last year, despite that it's still the cheapest option.

Disney is allegedly going to put out a service that bundles Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for $12.99. If so, that'll be all she wrote for me and cable.

Hulu live is $44.95 so that bundle likely won't include live. Regardless, HL/YTTV area already much cheaper.

Youtube allows 6 family members and 3 streams at once. No limit on recorded shows.

Wife only watches live sports so Hallmark wasn't an issue.

I have IP TV, streaming from internet. I dropped Direct TV @ $156 monthly. MY IP TV is $20 monthly. I have SEC, Big 10, Pac 12, Longhorn, ESPN, ESPN 2, 3, U and news. I have 39 Fox Sports channels, Golf channel and many others. I can watch almost all MLB games. I have on demand, so I get almost everything. It doesn't have local TV or DVR. I have Spectrum internet, 100 gb.

I had Direct TV Now but they kept raising the price so I switched to Hulu Live since I already had Hulu and Netflix anyway.

So how does that work? If my kid is watching Nickelodeon and falls asleep and I want to watch something as the 3rd stream, can I kick him/her off or do I have to walk upstairs and turn it off?

Dumb question time. How do you get YouTube to your TV? I know it goes through your internet connection but how do you start it on your tv?

Either a smart TV that is new enough it has it as an app, a chromecast with your phone or a roku which I believe comes with a remote.

Spectrum TV Streaming (no hardware) + Spectrum 200 down = $95 a month. I've found it to be agreeable.

I don't know how anyone lives with a home internet data cap.

Usually you have to make sure the other stream is off before it will work. It won't kick them as far as I know. I usually have to go turn one of them off in another room for it to work

Roku or firestick are the easiest.

Funky, I can't solve your family problems.

Pretty sure YouTube doesn't work on FireTV. For some reason YouTube is not allowed on any of the Amazon products. That is unless something has changed recently.
