Need an expert, techno wizard. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I have YoutubeTV. Problem: Too blurry, too much buffering/loading; sometimes just unwatchable. Occasionally will see a game clearly, then picture is degraded for some reason. Just switched service from Spectrum at 70 mbps to 200 mbps internet with Metronet. Some channels seem better; still have problems watching sports...anything from crystal clear to near constant interruption and stopping. Very annoying. Very hard to diagnose.

Buffering and picture stopping does not happen at all on when watching on my Chromebook. That isolates problem to ROKU, TV, or various channel signals.

Have old basic ROKU. Could this be part or all of the problem?

It cannot now be an internet speed issue, right?

TV is eight-year old Insignia.

Netflix is perfect; live ESPN channels seem never seem to be consistently good. Netflix is through ROKU and never buffers--this is absolutely perfect streaming. That would seem to discount problems with ROKU and TV.

What is causing the buffering, blurriness, etc? Have checked internet discussions and googled until I cannot Google anymore...no solutions.

Replays are better than live (it seems) but at times choppy and buffering.

Is this the best that it gets? Should we expect this to be no better than it is?

Do any of you know the secret here? Appreciate any help.

I don't know. We do Sling and I do not have that problem. It's also cheaper than YoutubeTV I believe.

try espn app for games, if that streams fine then the problem is either with your router or your app doesn't play well with your old roku

try reinstalling app; a cheap solution would be a 20 dollar firestick and use that for youtubetv

There are a few companies that will run a dedicated video line directly to your home. They will also help you get said line to the desired rooms in your home. Usually there is some sort of device between that line and your television, but for the inconvenience they will provide you with another type of handheld device that controls the other device AND your television. The handheld device has a power button, numbers and volume and channel selection buttons. It truly is an amazing time that we live in.

While i’m by no means a tech guru, I stream everything and recently upgraded my router and it’s made a world of difference. If you’re using the basic router that the respective internet company provides, you may want to consider upgrading. My guess is that it solves the issue.

Yeah well call me when there’s a contraption that allows you to easily record dozens of shows so you can watch them at your convenience because THAT would be amazing.

Are you saying what I think you’re saying?
That's correct. Such a thing does exist. It will also allow you to watch the recorded shows in all the rooms of your home AS WELL AS on other types of computerized devices.

Your Roku is old, buy a new one. If you're using your 8 year old Smart TV to stream things just stop.

The secret to a better refresh rate is the foil.
