It seems like all the top level Big 10 wrestling teams wrestlers, look fifteen to twenty pounds bigger than the actually are and have incredible motors. With that said , I watched Pinto and Shawver wrestle in the All star meet and they both are so tough in the first period, but loose momentum in the 2nd and 3rd.Outside of the practice room, do we have a next level strength and conditioning staff? This has been a huge issue for us since day one.

Agree with your L. Pinto assessment: he looked awesome in period 1, and gradually less so over the course of the bout. But, on 1 Nov, I wouldn’t be too concerned - his conditioning should improve. As for D. Shawver, that bout was a very tough ask right out of the starting gate - L. Byrd would be the favorite vs any 133; he may just be a bit much for Shawver, regardless of conditioning. Interesting factoid: over the p.a. system, the commentator stated that Byrd vs Shawver was the Ohio state title bout in 2018 (won by Byrd). Shawver will win a lot this season, but Mr. Byrd might be a bridge too far.

As I said in another thread, it was November 1st for the opposition as well. Why is our guy's conditioning less than theirs?

While the question is absolutely fair, Pinto has been here for literally a few months. Can’t put that on our staff yet. Plus from what I’ve heard he was just getting down to his weight.

lets talk in late December and see where they are at.

That's fair, especially if he has been a slow starter. Did anyone else look gassed in the third quarter? From what I was able to watch, Shawver looked good on Sunday, Gibson seemed in shape, Smith and Olivieri as well. And some others, but that was against easier competition.

There was a report of Sasso and someone else working with the team during the off-season. What was that about, and are they still there?
