For every McClung that we didn’t get there is a Taj Strickland, who played the last minute tonight and looked awful, albeit in a very small sample. I had forgotten he even played for Wisconsin. He obviously didn’t crack their rotation and I doubt he would see any time for us too. McConnell blows him away as a backup PG.

You don’t know that.

Strickland is going to be a good player at Wisconsin. He is very athletic but he is playing behind Trice and Davison so his minutes are likely to be limited for the near future.

Strickland and McConnell are different players. I am happy we got McConnell but I am hink both players will have good college careers.

And Swider isn't doing much at Villanova, and Hyatt is redshirting at LSU, yadda yadda. I think the difference with McClung is that he was a decommit and not just someone we were heavily in on.

Brutal evaluation.

Strickland is averaging 3.5 minutes per game. Either give the kid a couple minutes, or DNP him.

To put any player in for a minute is just a weird move.

Why?

This is life in an established basketball school. You have to be exceptional to be in the rotation Day 1. You move up the ladder and as a freshman you play garbage minutes.

That's true. In the same sense, what is any player going to do when they get put in for a minute?

I just feel that if you are going to play them a minute, just give them a DNP. They don't because one will affect the player emotions more.

Then who plays? the starters? Why is a player like Strickland above garbage time?
