Probably Jasper is more like Quickly than Dilly...

Not ready yet, or it is just one game...

Too early to tell.

Needs surgery. Think I’m done with sports for a while as a UK basketball/football/tennessee titans fan. Life was more fun in the summer

Honestly he should for his own good and us next year. It is unrealistic to think he will be good all year with the likely injury. Probably similar to Butler last year, who played through it but was a significantly larger framed person.

Lowe likely tore his labrum. There are one of two ways to fix. Surgery or a legit two-three months off in a sling doing nothing.

On a side note, I feel your pain man. I know the Titans suck right now but as a Bengals fan, I promise you it can be worse. We have possibly best QB in NFL, definitvely Top5 and cannot keep him healthy to save our lives. It is infuriating.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been slowly pulling away from college sports. It’s just not the same. It’s not college sports. And how freaky is it to lose two point guards to shoulder injuries in two years. Who ever heard of shoulder injuries in basketball.

I think UK basketball is done as us older folks knew it. I get it. You can trash me. I didn’t even watch the UL game. I did see significant highlights and it was a pretty pathetic defense. This might be the worst year and a half stretch of uk defense in my life. Although cal was getting bad with defense. Not getting Hurly or Golden or Nate oats was bad. Love pope but too many red flags.

I mean at least you had a couple fun wins. Titans are one ridiculously crazy Arizona meltdown away from being winless lmao

UK football has somewhat salvaged their season sort of, still work to do; but good lord September and October were BRUTAL

i was so hyped for basketball season, i was at the Purdue game and i was sure we were the best team in the country. Now this feels like a 4-5 seed team at best, and lord knows we will probably have more injuries and things could get really bad.

Yaaaaay sports

Nah don’t put that bad take on with mine like we said the same thing lol. All i said was my 3 teams seasons have been brutal so far, I think college sports as a whole is as good as it’s ever been. The average quality of play in major conference basketball is SO MUCH BETTER than it was 10 years ago. They deserved to be paid, it just sucks that UK seems cursed in the NIL era.

If you didn’t even watch the Louisville game your opinion is pretty irrelevant to be honest

Well the hard part is how do you plan for injuries? No quality PG was gonna come here with Lowe in front of him (and potentially Aberdeen and others).

It really comes down to just being absolutely snake-bitten with injuries. This is now 3 of the last 4 years where we have had big injuries to our guards and wings. Tyty/Grady, then last year with Butler and Jrob, and now Lowe and whoever else will inevitably get injured.

We cant really tell recruits and transfers that we will have injuries allowing the door to open. We cpuld go get 4 PGs next year and then we never need to use 3 of them in a meaningful capacity.
Add Kerr Kriisa to that list.

If we really had all the money the rumor said I think Pope could have actually got someone else.

Okay, we have options here.

1) Aberdeen can man the position
2) JJ can be coached. If I'm Pope, I focus a ton of energy on him to get him to the point whete he can be a good backup
3) Pope most likely needs to go back to running the offense from the top with Mo, or one of the other 2 bigs

At least this happened now and not during SEC play, or even worse, in the NCAAT.

MJ just said on KSR that the imaging shows the injury slightly worse than before. There are options that he could play, but appears that surgery will be needed at some point.

Good grief two seasons in a row UK could lose their starting PG.

4. Go get a league guard or European guard. For this season.

Get JQ back and Kentucky is now, basically, St. John's. No true point guard. Going to have to make it work every game. It won't be pretty at times. Tough to win a title without a true PG. You can make a run. You can win a few games. But the defense/rebounding will have to better than ever under Pope as it's very unlikely to have a top 5 offense.
I have been pretty happy with Pope but how the heck do we not have a true back up PG on the roster? Wild.

Let’s be honest, this is not a title team with or without Lowe. We have no star, we are built for defense and still somehow terrible on defense. We paid Mo diabate multiple millions to be useless on offense. Our SEC preseason player of the year looked like he wasn’t interested in playing against our biggest rival. We brought back Brandon Garrison for some reason who doesn’t look any better than he did last year and didn’t recruit a backup PG. our best player may not play till January and who knows how effective he will be. Pope mentioned immaturity or something weird happening before the Louisville game.

all is not well in lexington. Is the highlight of our season gonna be a fking exhibition game?
Gloom monger.

We would already have another if Lewis hadn't bolted. And he's been recruiting PGs this year like Kinney and Rippey. So, yeah it's clear Pope wanted and wants more PGs. I mean I shouldn't need to lay it out like that but ok. Now you know
I wonder if the way the offense ran through Amari last year is hurting us with PGs. This year so far looks like we’ll run a lot more PnR and look more “standard.”

I hate beating the dead horse of the $22M price tag, but it does blow my mind that we spent all that money and still have extremely limited contingency plans if a guard goes down. You need elite guard play to win in March, so the roster building for this season is going to keep getting more perplexing as the dust continues to settle.

I actually think JQ could be effective running the offense, he was a pretty good passer last year, his shot looks improved in recent clips, and he’s obviously athletic enough to attack the basket. But if he doesn’t get back to playing til January it may be too late to try and retool much of the offense around him up top.

And them if you assume JQ’s return will mean a lot fewer mins for Garrison and Moreno, you don’t really want to make them a central part of the offense, in my opinion. Maybe like you suggested Mo, or even Jelavic could facilitate from the top. Hard to know without seeing them do it some.

Whatever is wrong with his shoulder, I would rather see him just get the thing fixed. If it means he is out for the season then he is out for the season, if he makes it back healthy by Feb/Mar, then he will be a nice boost off the bench. I am not interested in depending on him and having him go down every third game. DA will start at the point and I think JJ will do fine backing him up, the young man has great upside, just live with the mistakes early. Leave CC at the 2 and OO at the 3 and back them up with Kam and Noah. The cupboard is far from bare
