I personally like Pope and still support him 100%. In all honesty Cal didn't leave anyone when he left outside of Perry .

Our program was in horrible shape as Cal exited and we had not been really relevant for Cals last 5 years. Im going to give Pope some leeway to build our program back.

I do think not having a backup PG was a huge error and pointing that out is legitimate and it doesn't mean your a troll or quitter. Given what we went through last year with injuries I would of thought that Pope would have at least added one backup PG after Lewis de-committed.

I would rather have a back up PG right now versus Potter or Hawthorne. Just my opinion.

I still think we can make a run despite this setback. Go Cats!
A 2 seed in 2 of Cal’s last 5 years is not off the map.

And most likely a 1 seed in ‘20 if we had a tournament.

You can have your own opinion. You can’t have your own facts.

If true about cornbread, disappointing

Obviously I don’t have records, but he was 100% definitely Booker66 he was caught as clear as day. And both of those accounts are always attacking passively. You’ll never see him post anything in support of the program our history or anything. Always short change. I’ve always been a more critical fan, I’m hard core. But I respect the history and what we are which is the greatest all time. I look long term at how we maintain our position on top and don’t tolerate losing, but it’s in the right place. I’d almost bet if you asked him are we the greatest all time it would be a no or with some type of catch.

But it’s fine I’m not worried about it. I just saw you post that and wanted you to know. He’ll deny he was Booker66, but he absolutely was. Why do you have multiple accounts trashing UK for this long and deny it if you’re a real fan?

Well I definitely remember Booker66 and I absolutely thought that was a troll account

Well if it was so great why was everyone over him. Probably had to do with getting bounced out early his last 3 years (pitiful). A 9 win season (embarrassing) or not getting to the sweet sixteen or beyond since 2019 (awful).

Is that our standard? If so Pope is the bomb after his first year. Those are facts sport.

Yes. It still reads…..focus on the zit.. They made a movie about you. An Austin Powers movie. Molely, molely molely… He got a mole…..
I’m so confused. Legit said they’d replace the crazy good wins by not having head scratching losses. I kinda think that’s the makeup of this team. Doesn’t have the shooters last years team did. Has a ton more athleticism. Last yrs team, when shooting it well, could get one they shouldn’t. Conversely they could drop one they shouldn’t when not shooting well. It’s kinda the nature of those types of teams.

Yes we are the greatest of all time and it's stupid and untrue to say I haven't said good things about UK but are you going to point out some of the lies you have been caught in?

I don’t think UK can fully overcome the loss of Lowe. He is the only true PG on the roster. Aberdeen is a good combo guard and I suspect he gives UK better defense at the PG spot, especially with his superior size. But I’m not sold on his PG skills in a primary role. I just think UK’s offensive ceiling is a good bit lower now due to the loss of Lowe; and even if he plays this season I fear its going to be like Butler last season—i.e., kind of a shell of what he was.

On the positive side, we had no one who even resembled a PG last season after losing Butler and Kriisa and we pulled off some crazy wins.

Aberdeen can handle the point for sure but Johnson needs to realize he doesn't have to shoot so much and let the game come to him.

That’s the nature of pass and jack. Live by the three, die by the three. Last year’s team was a very emotional one. They got hyped for big games. They had to. Consequently they had a big performance range. You get clocked on a down night like that.

That was kinda my point. They had the juice to take down a giant. Also went up against their fair share of giants. But got tripped up too, by some little people. I think (w/o Lowe and JQ, which was my original point) the net result will be similar. Except this team won’t win as many (duh) against top tier teams, but also won’t drop a dud or two either.

That can happen. Teams have different ranges of performance. Some are giant killers that are pushovers without the giant, Some teams have extreme consistency, never high, never low.

This said, you hit on a very interesting point. Basketball is neither transitive nor well defined. You can’t really predict outcomes based on A beat B and B beat C doesn’t assure you that a A will stomp C. And just because A beat B twice doesn’t tell you much about the next outcome. Let decent coach B watch you enough times, he often can and will kick your ***.

I don't understand the need for UK fans to dog their own teams. It's an ugly trait. Last year's team wasn't bad. This year's team isn't bad. They're all different every year.

We don't know if we "have the talent" this year because we haven't once seen everybody play together. How many minutes has JQ played? This isn't the NBA. We have what we have.

Saying one squad had more talent than another isn't dogging anyone. Its factual.

Yep.

It brings Lowe square into play for 2026 PG. Probably PG2, but he's definitely coming back.

Going to have to figure it out with JJ, Aberdeen and Chandler.

The hell with that. Show him the door and give Rippey a blank check. JJ isn’t a PG he’s. Scorer. Aberdeen is better off the ball. Same with Chandler. Rippey would fit into the UK PG mold like Cal got. He’ll have an impact not unlike Acuff or somebody. He’s a stud. Get him. Holt and Stokes and pay for the most dominate big in the portal. Even if we lose guys like Hawthorne. Jelevic etc who cares. Give me some studs

No chance I’d be building around a guy who can’t stay healthy for next year’s roster. If Lowe is out for the year, go get an elite PG next season and Lowe can be a part of the team if he wants but no keys being handed to him.
Depending on what he’s making let him go. Get a vet backup. Give Rippey a blank check as well as the best big on the market. Ik tired of this. If somebody won’t sell me something for 10’ im like here’s 30. So if whoever offers Rippey 5. Give him 7. Let Lowe. Jelevic. Idc even Hawthorne all leave. BG should be sent home now.

Welp, we bought the new one seed car and now the engine light is blinking and the wheel nuts are getting lose. Most likely a 4 seed. But... if P could coach defense, giving more minutes to taller point guards could boost defense.

And we paid him for this year and next...wonder if Pope has the nuts to go after a better point guard in the portal next year

Man we need Rippey. Then a vet backup or Lowe backing him up. We need dogs.

Rippey / Lowe / Frosh Transfer
Aberdeen / Jasper / Noah
Chandler / Holt / Kam
Stokes / Mo D / Frosh transfer
Top C transfer / MM / Potter

Let the rest leave.

We would already have another if Lewis hadn't bolted. And he's been recruiting PGs this year like Kinney and Rippey. So, yeah it's clear Pope wanted and wants more PGs. I mean I shouldn't need to lay it out like that but ok. Now you know

Rippey with Aberdeen. Chandler. Jasper. Stokes. Mo D or Muurinen and the top C transfer is what we should focus on. Let Lowe come back and back Rippey. An actual game changing nba prospect

I actually do like Rippey. I didn't think we're in a good spot for him per the "experts"
