Student Section Tickets?

Hey all, so I've been to a Duke game at CIS each of the last 2 years, and I think I'm hooked. I've always bought tickets in Section 14 or 15 b/c I love the view, and have been fortunate enough to save and spend the extra $.

I am thinking about trying out getting tix from the student section (17) just to see what that's like (and to save a few $$ this year). I'd like to bring my 8 year old son with me again (continue the tradition). So couple questions about this:

1) would an 8 yr old be able to see anything or is it too packed to see, if your not a grown up?
2) any concerns about pretty poor language in the stands?

Thanks in advance!

Unless you a plan on attending a game when school isn't in session over the holidays or have a connection with a Duke undergrad who will loan you his/her student ID (which obviously wouldn't be plausible if you're kid plans on using the ID), I'm not exactly sure how you plan on sitting in the student section.

Section 17 tickets are fairly easy to come by. Make sure you get inone early to try to get near the front. He may have a hard time seeing being 8 years old and how they cram you in there like sardines.

I used to think that too, but I'm not sure it's always the case. Last year when we were in town for the UVA game we met a young lady in line to get into Cameron who had bought her ticket (in the student section) on Stub Hub the night before and made the drive from Charlottesville. (Her fiance was actually on the UVA staff.) I asked her how she pulled that off without a student ID and I think I kind of scared her into thinking she might have been duped. Anyway, she got in and my wife and I could see her standing in the student section during the game.

I've stood in Section 17 few times with my oldest son(11). The ushers do a great job of moving the kids down to front rows, even for ACC games. My son stood wide eyed in the first row directly across from Duke bench, memory that will last a lifetime.

Get in CIS early is the key.

Interesting. This is definitely news to me. When I attended games as a student, I never recall any non-students in the section, especially for a big game like UVA last season.
