Seriously.

I'm all for giving guys time to 'get right' mentally but this is just getting worse and most importantly it's really hurting the team.

Hell, I bet we've got 10 kids on the team now that could do an average job which is better than what we're sending out there now.

Why don't we use the backup? The starter has been awful, takes so long to punt it is like he is scared to try. Surprised we haven't had more blocked. Please give someone else a chance!!

Evidently the staff is ok with our current one, never hear them complaining about it, 38 yards a punt is not very good for an SEC punter. Sticking with him is even worse.

And he is not good at directional punting either...or hang time.

Really amazing that our coverage has been as decent as it has considering what they've got to work with.

I think he has his shoes on the wrong feet.

I'm sure the guy has a decent leg or he wouldn't have been given a scholarship to it has to be technique and the that's not that hard to correct with a little instruction. I wonder why nobody is working on his drop because that's clearly where his problem is. He's dropping a wobbly ball and that's why he knuckleballs everything. To kick a spiral the ball simply has to drop flat against a flat foot to spin it. Anybody that can extend their leg and drop a flat ball can do it (that leaves me out). Surely he has the same problem in practice so why on earth hasnt' somebody helped him fix it? Really don't need a specialist brought in.

We need to do something. McKinnis is terrible. I dread 4th downs more than I have in years because we all know the punt will be terrible.

Tyler pack from Johnson central is a walk on and has the longest punt in state history and has the first and second longest field goals made in state history. I'm shocked he isn't getting a chance to punt.
But he's not on scholly.............. Staff letting the guy play they paid for....
Don't know much about punting but you have to wonder what someone saw in him that was worth 20K?
He just seems slow to the ball? Maybe he's had to change something that's made him worse?
Saw on screen where he has a 39+ yard average but... I no longer attend games makes it hard to judge...

I think the coaches see what we see but are trying to ride the season out without any disaster and try to fix it next year, possibly even working on switching him to rugby style.

The reason I don't think they have tried to change punters is at least he's catching the ball and believe the are scared to death to try somebody else for fear they will have trouble on the exchange etc at this point.

Backup, think his name is Kirshe, has been hurt.

He is so slow with three long steps anyone could block it if they tried. I think he is so poor the defense would rather not take a chance on roughing and accept his poor punt.

Our punter can't punt and our punt returner fair catches every punt from our opponent. Don't know if the coaches can do much about that this late in the season but this is just another in a long line of embarrassing flaws with this staff. Mediocre high school punters punt the ball further than our punter and the inevitable fair catch every time is sad.

I would have thought they might try some rugby style punting. Strange things sometimes happen on rugby kicks, like the ball hits and rolls down field another 25 yards, or it hits a return team player in the back or the leg making it a live ball. You don't need a great leg to rugby punt.

Listening to Stoops call in show tonight, and I thought I heard the caller ask about punting, and Stoops said something to the effect "I'm not going to go there". Was my recollection correct or was he talking about something else?

Yes, he is slow and I'll bet he gets one blocked on Saturday. Hang time and distance are poor. Otherwise, he's great
Wasn't he highly rated coming in?

I'm not going to beat up on the kid but in that 38 yd punt, they usually roll 12 to 15 yds, its ugly for sure and its tough to get field advantage with those short punts.

He might not kick it very far. It I think he is putting some funky spin on those kicks. Lol

What have we recovered about 4 punts where they couldn't catch it.
