Subdivisions vs no subdivisions

I read in a post earlier about how ingenious it was for the NCHSAA to do away with the subdivisions and how they will make just as much or more money with four state champions as they did with eight state champions. I can see where that is a real possibility. There are absolutely some incredible match ups that have already happened in this years playoffs and more to come this week for sure. I guess I don't have an argument or a gripe with it but I am still a little puzzled as to why there is such a resistance to change to five or possibly six classifications like many other states already do. With the idea that travel has always been on the table as an issue, I respectfully say that it doesn't appear so. After the events of the summer with NCHSAA investigations and such, I'm of the opinion that the schools individual input still doesn't carry much weight in this or any other discussions with the leadership of the organization. This will probably not be a popular comment with many coaches and administrators across the state as it was apparent that a majority of them backed the NCHSAA completely in all the inquisition that went through the legislature. I'd just like to hear what a group of folks that love the game and the kids have to say on these boards.

Just my opinion but if the NCHSAA requires head coaches to attend an annual rules meeting then why is it so hard to require a school to vote Yes or No on important issues? Am I wrong that when a school does not vote, then it’s counted the same as a No? I would like to see every school “ On the record” instead of the assumption that a no response is a No Vote.

Just asking the question. Has the 5 or 6 classification question ever been put to a vote?

if so what was the actual response?

It’s my understanding that the last vote didn’t specify a number of classifications only that a yes vote gave the nchsaa the authority to change to what ever they wanted to

I just hope that the passage of HB91 will lead to oversight and accountability with the NCHSAA. There have been some egregious classifications and obvious favoritism within the NCHSAA.

When will HB91 come in to effect? I'm of the opinion that it is not a good thing for someone to have absolute power of the NCHSAA for years and years and years. It's the same thing as the need for term limits in congress. Times change and leadership needs to change with those times.

There are 372 football playing schools in the NCHSAA this year, with that number continuing to grow. ...That number considerably less in 2001, which was the last time state had 4 playoff classes. That's a pretty good argument for more than four classes now.

Reidsville needs more classes....or subclasses.....right?
