Apparently the comicbook fanboys are going all "heathledger on sleeping pills" over reviews of the new "Suicide Squad":

http://variety.com/2016/film/news/s...en-tomatoes-bad-reviews-shut-down-1201829631/

This looked like crap from the get-go. Bad cast, a rehashed Joker (down to the same lisp no less), and that sloot from Wolf of Wallstreet saying the most nails-to-a-chalkboard line "We're bad guys, it's what we do!". Not surprised it's bottoming out on Rotten Tomatoes.

Curious to see the thoughts on this movie, and superhero movies in general.

I like the Avengers movies. Never got into the individual ones though except for Winter Soldier. That's about it for me. Did see Superman v Batman because I didn't want to drive home while my kid was watching some other movie.

superhero movies never tickled my fancy, except for Batman. Always liked a good Batman. Have never seen any of the others beginning to end except for Deadpool... and that was by recommendation because of my sense of humor. It was pretty good, but wouldn't call it great.

X-Men, Avengers, Superman, Spiderman, AntMan, whatever the **** else "man"... never seen em.

I've never seen an X-Men movie, Captain America, Civil War or Ant Man or Avengers 2. I just saw Batman vs Superman last week. I'm pretty burnt out on comic book movies. I don't know how people can just watch these things over and over.

I've never been a fan of the Joker's tattoos. I like Leto and I think he could be a great Joker, but what I've seen doesn't feel like an interpretation I'm going to love.

I like what I've seen from Robbie and from what I've seen on the reviews, she does a good job. The negativity is dissappointing though because there's a lot riding on DC with this film. I liked BvS, but it certainly has its flaws (the director's cut helped some).

I'm really looking forward to Dr. Strange. I'm not real familiar with the character, but I loved the trailer shown at SDCC.

Love comic book super heroes movies. If Suicide Squad bombs then DC is in trouble as far as feature films go.

Reviews have been surprising given all that DC put into it. But then again so have most of the rest of their movies except the last Batman trilogy.

The super hero genre is designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator, the mouth-breathing retard that just sucks up popular entertainment. There hasn't been a good superhero flick since The Dark Knight, which was, what? 7 years ago now? Anyone still following this **** genre is a manchild.

Its pretty indicative of where DC is that Marvel can take a little known bunch of misfits that team up to battle evil and make it a hit and DC can't even copy that right.

I think DC has the best comic book character in Batman but Marvel has much more depth. DC doesn't have that many interesting characters. Marvel does.

Loved the Batman with Christian Bale. You really don't get much better. I like the Captain America ones ok, but hadn't cared too much for the other ones like hulk or iron man. I watched Batman vs Superman with my boys and thought it was horrible.

What do you disagree with? DC is top heavy with Batman and Superman but it's not nearly as good as Marvel after that.

Iron Man
Thor
Spider-Man
Capt America
Hulk
Wolverine/X-Men crew
Deadpool
Punisher

I'd say all of those characters are better than D.C.'s third best protagonist.

If we're talking villains then DC probably gets the edge.

I've always felt DC's pool of villains is much better than Marvel's. As good as the MCU has been, the films haven't had many villains that I would consider great. I do think Marvel has a better depth of hero's, although at the very top I still lean DC, but that's mainly my Batman preference.

Marvel has made good with not being able to use its best villains in its movies tho. I mean they don't have the rights to Magneto, Dr Doom and Spiderman's rogues gallery.

DC is top heavy. Marvel is deeper. The 3 most famous superheroes to the general public are Batman, Superman and Spiderman.

I'm really looking forward to Dr. Strange. I'm not real familiar with the character, but I loved the trailer shown at SDCC.

It is Marvel's first venture into its magical realm. He is Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe and often gives guidance to other heroes.

I saw Suicide Squad. It definitely has its flaws and the finale is pretty 'meh', but it's going to be a guilty pleasure of mine. I even liked Leto's creepy Joker in his minimal screen time (it's definitely a different take on the character). Harley and Deadshot are well done. The other squad members aren't that important (Boomerang is completely wasted). Davis as Waller is spot on.

The tone and style is completely different from BvS (it's very stylized), but if you hated that film, this one's probably not good enough to change your mind on the DCEU. There was a lot riding on this film and it didn't hit as high of a mark as it needed to, but it's still entertaining. The acting and the characters were good, but the script needed to be stronger (mainly a better villain).

There is a mid-credits scene.

Saw it 2 hours ago. Good but not great. Entertaining but not orgasmic.
Stay for the credits.

Oh...not disagreeing overall......just think Batman (like wolverine) is overrated

Why is it that Marvel has been so much more successful than DC? I've never really seen any comic book movies so I don't know much about them. Also, more R rated would be better.

Out of the comic book films I've only watched Deadpool and Civil War...and Bale Batmans

In 2008 Marvel with its own studio released a true to the comic Ironman with the perfectly cast Robert Downey Jr as the lead. The post credit scene is Nick Fury talking to Tony Stark about the Avenger initiative. From that point on Marvel began building to the Avengers movie with single movies for most of its members while also creating a cinematic marvel world that put them all together.

Since Marvel has its own movie studio now they can be more true to the comic origins of their characters where other studios tend to muck everything up. Even at their worst aka Ironman 2, Marvel still made a decent flick. I mean its not horrible.

DC is trying to play catch up but rather than take the time to play the long game with individual movies for each hero before they put them all together they are fumbling around rushing Justice League to the theaters.

The Wonder Woman movie actually looks pretty darn good based on its trailer. Best looking DC flick since The Dark Knight. Hope they don't screw it up.

Too much interference from Warner Bros executives.

Don't forget, they were the ones that green-lighted this monstrosity:

Am reading a review right now. It says "Batman vs Superman proved to be exceedingly dark...." And I think that's a key. The Marvel movies are fun. The DC movies are dark and depressing, which ain't a winning formula for summer movie fare....

The review goes on to say "Once you've seen "Suicide Squad", though, "Batman vs Superman" seems like the superhero equivalent of "Singing in the Rain"......

Naw, they can be fine dark. Nolan batmans are dark and among the top shelf of comic book movies.

Batman is dark in general so that worked. Superman on the other hand not really. Marvel's Daredevil is dark and really works well as a dark TV show.

"in general"

Only movies I liked was the Dark Knight trilogy with Bale. Mainly because the well developed antagonists to the Bat.

The villains in Marvel movies seem rather shallow.
Guardians the Ronin guy wasn't much more than some bad guy placeholder.
Iron Man and Ant man both had the same scenario of some douchebag running the corporation that stole their tech to use against them.
Only liked the releases of Dead Pool's with it's dark humor and Captain America cause Nazi's make good bad guys.

In 1995, I didn't realize how much Batman Forever sucked. I liked Val Kilmer so it affected my opinion of the film and the fact that I was younger and stupid. But watching the Nolan Batman films have made me realize how horrible most comic book movies are.

I was young when Forever came out and liked it at the time. I don't like it now. I'm still a fan of the Burton films, particularly '89.

Would you put the serials (which were released theatrically) above or below B&R?

I like the Nolan films and the '89 Burton, those only ones worth watching.

I don't think there is one Superman live action film I have liked.
I wonder if they plan to make a Steel remake?

Agree. Saw it tonight and it was entertaining. Wish I would have waited for Netflix but the XD experience at Cinamark is kind of cool.

Just got back, if you're a diehard comic book fan you're probably not going to be satisfied.

Its a good summer popcorn movie, not great, but not bad either.

Not a comic book movie (or comics in general) fan myself. I've seen the first three Batmans in the 80s and 90s, the ****** Supermans from the 80s, The Dark Knight, Iron Man and Deadpool, which I greatly enjoyed but wasn't really blown away.

That's my list. I'm not really interested in the genre. But everyone I know is. A big group of co-workers were going to see Suicide Squad tonight. I passed.

Being a pop culture pariah is apparently my thing.

Never been a fan of superhero movies or the superhero comics for that matter. It's the same **** over and over again. I only pay to see one now if it's a different take on them, like Deadpool, for example. ANd that still sucked.

I will see Doctor Strange eventually though. Seems to be a fairly unique movie.
