Think I'll wait for Scarlett Johansson as a cyborg cop in Japan.

Here's a crazy idea that might work for movie makers: What if they created original content? LOL I know I know, but I think it would be a huge hit. Just a suggestion.

There's a lot of risk involved with green lighting a big budget movie for something original because there's not a built in audience. There's still room for original blockbusters to do well (ie. Avatar and Inception), but then there's flops like Jupiter Ascending or John Carter (I know John Carter wasn't original, but it doesn't have a large fan base compared to others). I'd like to see some more blockbuster type films that aren't based on an existing mythology, but I can understand why a studio would be more likely to spend $200M on Batman as opposed to something new.

The trailer was good except for the 20 some shots of Harley. The overt, ad nauseam advertising of the character was quite annoying by the time she says, "Hope you've got some insurance."

DC > Marvel

DC is taking the darker, more adult road with their films, as opposed to Marvel's family-friendly, easier approach that places grandiose action over real character development.

Both formats will flourish because for every American desiring the 1970s filmmaking realism there is another American desiring the 1980s "America in a bubble" filmmaking strategy.

Guardians of the Galaxy I'll give you. It was entertaining. I honestly hated Winter Soldier. Watch the Cinema Sins video about it on YouTube. That guy can point out everything I didn't like about it better than I can.

He does that to all movies, but Winter Soldier was not great. But you don't need a Youtube channel to point out some of the egregious holes in the Dark Knight trilogy, for example. I liked the movies, but let's be real. They're comic book movies that are chock full of inconsistencies, ridiculous plots, and action sequences that cannot be squared with the laws of physics. Our kids will look back on these like we look back on old Superman movies or the Adam West version of Batman.

Umm, you could say the same thing about literally every summer blockbuster.

Movies by their nature demand suspension of belief. The better ones speak to universal themes that appeal to the general public no matter what the makeup of the audiences might be.
