The Sun-Times "Score Stream", which appears on their Cube page, had two very incorrect scores this evening.

First, they had Libertyville losing (since corrected.) Secondly, they had an in-progress score for Marist and Waubonsie that was all fouled up.

A note for those of you having problems with Cube.

My MC/SR game stream froze last night. (I was viewing it through AOL Desktop). When i switched over to Internet Explorer, it was fi.ne. (I switched back to check, and the game on Desktop was still frozen).

I am very disappointed in the Chicago Sun Times coverage of high school sports. They have greatly cut back on their coverage. A few years ago they would cover 4-5 games in every Saturday edition. Now often one game and an over sized picture. They don't even list all of the results from the prior evening. I have to get the Tribune or go on line. Too bad they used to have the best coverage. I wonder what Taylor Bell would think.

This happens all the time. Often you will see the right score but it will have the wrong team in the lead. Even though it appears to be constantly updating it is not. Refreshing the page helps. But unless you can find an active twitter page, it's still the fastest one I know of.

The Sun-Times cut every basketball guy EXCEPT Michael O'Brien

I tried Scorestream (they came to Rivals very early on) for a week or two....saw that the scores can also be submitted via fans etc and stopped immediately using it for that reason. I tried warning others but at this stage the Sun Times are down to one full timer plus part time stringer types in Beth Long and Joe Hendricksen. They will run anything that makes it look like they have something going on.

Because of the latest newspaper fall outs, pretty much all papers are writing for the other. At the Herald, we still regularly cover games - we even have web sites dedicated to football and basketball.

The other issue is we only cover our circulation area.

The Sun Times guys are writing for both the tribune and times. And vice versa. Same thing for us at the herald as we are asked to cover sometimes for all three.

Covering HS sports is a dieing breed right now. The quality is down with less and less experienced reporters. Guys getting laid off or guys like me retiring at the end of the year.

It's nothing like it used to be.

Theirs still good ones out there - Narang, O'Brien, Helgot among a few and Schmitt, Aguilar and Quags with us.
