Luke ..A+ so far. Volk looked huge. Luke to quick for him IMO..let’s go Luke..

Blaze..A+ so far. He is so quick when he goes. Would like to see him get one early against Davino

Davis..B..only wish is that he would stop the chest wrap defense. He ends up using it and then going to back. Still hasn’t lost to a guy ranked below him

Van Ness ..A. A gas tank for days. Maybe something with his warm up routine so he doesn’t put himself in a hole early. No worries for SVN

Duke..A+. They gave him hardest route possible and he checking off all the boxes. Let’s hope Kasak gave him some tips on how to handle Taylor

Mitch..A+. Next topic

Levi..A+..Next topic..thinking Levi was chippy last time agains Pinto. Have a feeling he’s going to open this up early and often

Welsh..A+. Another one they have the hardest past like Duke..”balls of steel”

Barr..A+ ..next topic

Mirasola..A..most improved wrestler from start of season till now. Was in on some nice shots against Taye. Excited to watch him today

I don’t like doing grades since that’s an Iowa board thing. But proud and excited this morning. Nothing negative all positive

Yeah that match in The semis I didn't see coming i though Nic B would win easily. Guess that's why they wrestle them lol

Was thinking further, and I said all this like 3 weeks ago… doesn’t also help that he has one path to win matches. Makes his margins razor thin if you can get out of the 1st period.

Agree with most of what you said but not with Davis. He lost to a 10 or 11 seed from Rutgers and will finish below his seed because of that loss. He is still gassing half way through the 2nd period which makes me think his weight management is undisciplined and inconsistent. Rather than conceding TDs, he puts himself on his back and gives up back points like candy being thrown from a parade float.

Davis is a D at this point. It’s his worst season since he arrived, IMO, and I don’t think it is even close

8 finalists and 8 champions is where my heart is. Is it possible? Yes! Probable? No. At some point someone is going to get beat. I mean how long can we as fans witness such a run? Rather it be now than in two weeks.

Probability of losing (lower to higher)…

barr / Mitch / Levi / Luke / SVN / duke / blaze / welsh

just one guys opinion.

You may be right. He's probably the most skilled heavy in the country right now, but heavyweight is a different animal.

Appreciate the opportunity to drop a teaser… had a fantastic conversation with Elijah Brown yesterday after he won his second straight PIAA title. Among the topics was how much weight he thinks he can eventually carry. Keep an eye out for that next week.

Brown looks really skinny at 215. Mirasola may never win a title, but he can podium a few years while Brown (with a much bigger frame) puts on good weight.

Not sure if you aware or not but Oliveri from RU is ranked 6th or 7th by coaches (Davis in 10-12 range). The only reason he was seeded 10th is he had no B1G 10 matches. He was 15-0 coming into this tourney. Davis is a bloodround to low AA candidate. Nothing he’s done in this tourney has shifted that

That will always be astounding to me that he went 15-0 and didn’t wrestling a single conference match this year.

You get it, pish. Davis hasn’t lost to anyone ranked below him this season. He’s exciting to watch! And most of those that criticize his stamina would get winded walking to the refrigerator, but this board always needs a punching bag.

I’m rooting hard for Davis to AA again.

Davis certainly can be frustrating to watch, but he was put in a really difficult situation and has beaten everybody he should beat. Even with a healthy Nagao, IMO low AA at 141 was probably the best PSU could reasonably expect this year.

Absolutely. If nothing else, recognize and respect that this guy stepped up for the team when it wasn’t part of the original plan.

Unfortunately he was suspended during that time but he did the smart thing and hit the opens to get the match count up.

While far from perfect I appreciate the kid giving up a year trying to fill a hole for us at 141. He personally would have been better served with a redshirt year.

Davis was stronger than almost anyone he wrestled at 125. He has not adapted to the bigger opponents. He also puts himself in bad positions or goes to quick on finishing moves. When Oliveri went funky Davis didn't see it coming and allowed the counter. Blaze and Van Ness would recognize that counter.

As far as Van Ness, he's been scouted and no doubt the word is out that he susceptible to straight single leg attacks . Fortunately he is in tremendous condition and has been able to rally. However if you play with fire eventually you get burnt .

In my opinion this is a bad take. Everyone on the team knows that injuries are part of the sport and are ready to be the next man up. I believe if something happen to Rocco Asher would have been 100% dialed in. Same with others. Just because you are going into the season expecting to redshirt doesn’t mean you stop training.
