No, these two other short dudes were with us they called themselves "The Dynamite twins"...
they spent most of the night eye fighting big dudes..

Give them a break, they just had to watch their two prized recruits wrestle stall from a knee and lose earlier in the day.

Appreciate the opportunity to drop a teaser… had a fantastic conversation with Elijah Brown yesterday after he won his second straight PIAA title. Among the topics was how much weight he thinks he can eventually carry. Keep an eye out for that next week.
By the way, how were your driving gymnastics yesterday?

In my opinion this is a bad take. Everyone on the team knows that injuries are part of the sport and are ready to be the next man up. I believe if something happen to Rocco Asher would have been 100% dialed in. Same with others. Just because you are going into the season expecting to redshirt doesn’t mean you stop training.
No but it may materially affect the nature of training, weight management, periodization, etc.

Different kind of Sunday thought. My three most unlikely upsets in order would be: Mitchell, Barr, Mendez. It pains me to say that my fourth would be Jax Forrest. Watching his Ayala and Larkin demolitions back-to-back, I’m seeing a mutant, titanium spider crossed with Gumby. While the opponent is shooting, Jax is wrapping a leg around back. And that cradle-the-hips tilt is bonkers. Siedel only got close with aggressive offense. I’m all in on our defensive wizard, and, yes, he’s beaten Jax in the past, but if higher-seeded Marcus beats the spider in Cleveland, I’ll consider it one of the year’s most satisfying upsets.
First up, let’s deal with pesky Davino to lock up that NCAA #1 seed.

You get it, pish. Davis hasn’t lost to anyone ranked below him this season. He’s exciting to watch! And most of those that criticize his stamina would get winded walking to the refrigerator, but this board always needs a punching bag.

I’m rooting hard for Davis to AA again.
Amen. On any other team Scooter would be considered one of their best hammers and they'd feel lucky to have him. But on this team where 8 conference/nat'l champs isn't farfetched.... Well, suffice it to say that some of us fans is much dumb.

EDIT: I'll add that Braeden has more bonus points this tourney so far than Luke, Marcus, Shayne, PJ, Levi, & Rocco, with a greater likelihood of adding more this next match than most if not all of those teammates. Only Mitch and Josh have more.

If he were on Iowa they would already have him penciled in as a top 3 finisher at nationals this year.

Well said, it's easy to arm chair quarterback when a wrestler loses a match, Seems I remember when Cole lost a match there were pages of demands that Cochran would be a better option, those posters have suddenly gone silent.

In Cael I trust.

Nobody other than Seidel has even given him a match and it was eye-opening watching him completely dismantle Ayala. Can't think of anyone with a similar skillset and style. You don't want to fall into the transitive property fallacy - as Forrest has destroyed guys Blaze had really tight matches with - but also can't read too much into their past head-to-heads (mostly in freestyle, I think). Will be interesting to see how Blaze tactically attacks that match.

Davis was stronger than almost anyone he wrestled at 125. He has not adapted to the bigger opponents. He also puts himself in bad positions or goes to quick on finishing moves. When Oliveri went funky Davis didn't see it coming and allowed the counter. Blaze and Van Ness would recognize that counter.

As far as Van Ness, he's been scouted and no doubt the word is out that he susceptible to straight single leg attacks . Fortunately he is in tremendous condition and has been able to rally. However if you play with fire eventually you get burnt .
Or you win a national championship

I don't put too much into what they did versus common opponents. Mendez was destroying people Bartlett barely beat and Bartlett should have beat Mendez

I haven’t yet read anyone covering it, but Manning was angry at Minnesota over something about Allred’s Injury Default. He was yelling at everyone wearing Gopher gear for quite some time. I’d really like to know what that was about.

Agreed.
Mirasola will win a title. He will put on 15 of maturing man muscle and will become the anvil others can’t move.

It’s almost as if people forget how old Cassar was when he took everyone apart.
It’s taken him 3 years to put on 15 pounds, I’ll be happy with 8-10.

Van Ness ..A. A gas tank for days. Maybe something with his warm up routine so he doesn’t put himself in a hole early. No worries for SVN

I don’t like doing grades since that’s an Iowa board thing. But proud and excited this morning. Nothing negative all positive
"No worries"?

A win is a win. Check that two wins are two wins and that is all that matters.

SVN can certainly get an A for resiliency, not panicking and grinding through difficult circumstances. Otherwise, no way he earned an A overall for those matches. I have no idea what has happened to his neutral defense this year most notably in the first period. He made the very same mistake twice against McNeil, and nearly exposed both times as well. He is in a pretty weak weight class and should have distanced himself from the competition long ago.

Shane is allowing inferior wrestlers to have a real shot at an upset. This started well before the tourney. The best I could give him is a B-. With this coaching staff, and his talent and experience, what we are seeing 'repeatedly' is a huge head scratcher!

Agree with most of what you said but not with Davis. He lost to a 10 or 11 seed from Rutgers and will finish below his seed because of that loss. He is still gassing half way through the 2nd period which makes me think his weight management is undisciplined and inconsistent. Rather than conceding TDs, he puts himself on his back and gives up back points like candy being thrown from a parade float.

Davis is a D at this point. It’s his worst season since he arrived, IMO, and I don’t think it is even close
An undefeated 11 seed that probably been would have been a top 3 seed if he wrestled enough matches this year.

Luke ..A+ so far. Volk looked huge. Luke to quick for him IMO..let’s go Luke..

Blaze..A+ so far. He is so quick when he goes. Would like to see him get one early against Davino

Davis..B..only wish is that he would stop the chest wrap defense. He ends up using it and then going to back. Still hasn’t lost to a guy ranked below him

Van Ness ..A. A gas tank for days. Maybe something with his warm up routine so he doesn’t put himself in a hole early. No worries for SVN

Duke..A+. They gave him hardest route possible and he checking off all the boxes. Let’s hope Kasak gave him some tips on how to handle Taylor

Mitch..A+. Next topic

Levi..A+..Next topic..thinking Levi was chippy last time agains Pinto. Have a feeling he’s going to open this up early and often

Welsh..A+. Another one they have the hardest past like Duke..”balls of steel”

Barr..A+ ..next topic

Mirasola..A..most improved wrestler from start of season till now. Was in on some nice shots against Taye. Excited to watch him today

I don’t like doing grades since that’s an Iowa board thing. But proud and excited this morning. Nothing negative all positive
And next year could be even better!

I’m a bit nervous about Minto vs Levi. The B1G media, in selecting Minto as the semis OW, seems to be trying to create a story line hoping for a Minto win. Amirite?

How many times did Mirasola get Ghadiali's ankle and just didn't have the strength to finish? With 20lbs more, that's at least a MD for Mirasola.
Very similar to their dual meet. Ghadiali “looks” slow but isn’t so much fast as he is quick and agile. Give credit to him.

8 finalists and 8 champions is where my heart is. Is it possible? Yes! Probable? No. At some point someone is going to get beat. I mean how long can we as fans witness such a run? Rather it be now than in two weeks.

Probability of losing (lower to higher)…

barr / Mitch / Levi / Luke / SVN / duke / blaze / welsh

just one guys opinion.
I got five today… Blaze, Duke, Rocco have very tough matches. The others have tough matches. It’s the B1Gs. Tougher than nationals. Nittany Nation to take over Cleveland in two weeks. Record setter again.

Agreed, except for SVN. He's gotta figure out the slow start thing or one time his gas tank might not be enough to save him. I'd give him a B or B+, still good though.

I'm seeing his stance is way to high for close wrestling. There is no defense for a single leg he walks right into them he needs to be low like blaze. Even last year he crouched more. He will figure it out. Nobody can stay with him for 3 periods so he just pours it on late

Not even just the strength a couple he just needed to circle around. He is far quicker than most heavies he needs to use that speed. Grab an ankle and circle instead of pulling it in

So davis gets bonus points for being a lower rank.
