Why is the older Bachman not wrestling?

Israel Borge may not be the most offensive wrestler, but he’s super slick.

Getting to his legs is only the beginning - and might be more dangerous for you than it is him.

He picks up a fall via cradle to advance to the R16 - where he’ll face Iowa prep Gavin Landers.

Borge pours it on for a 16-5 MD.

I hadn’t watched a ton of him before this weekend, but he gives off some real Jaydin Eierman vibes…

Sean Kenny controlled his QF at 113, putting on a strong 2nd period rideout and then tacking on a late TD for the 5-1 win.

Borge (15-0) and Bachmann (4-2) both win at 132 to set up an awesome semifinal between them.

At 132, Regan was actually fairly competitive in a 7-3 loss to #2 Moses Mendoza.

Same for Youngblut (138) in an 8-4 defeat against #2 Tyler Dekraker.

Cassioppi (15-3 at 150) and Dhabolt (16-5 at 165) both ran away with victories to reach the semis.

And Michael Mocco continues to toy with dudes at HWT, picking up his third fall in as many matches (2:19).

(113) Kenny grits out a 9-8 decision while taking multiple injury TO's for a shoulder

(132) Borge tops Bachmann 4-2 thanks to a 3rd period TD

(150) Cassioppi gets teched by Bassett, 20-5

(165) Dhabolt rolls to a 15-1 MD

(285) another Mocco bloodbath, 20-5 in just 1:49

Kenny/Borge/Dhabolt/Mocco will all wrestle in the finals later today.

In the consi semis, it'll be Bachmann vs. Regan (132) - plus Youngblut, Cassioppi, and Boe

That Mocco match has to be a fun watch. Hope it gets posted somewhere.

Looks like Sean Kenny lost his finals match.
Yep, his opponent was given two stall points in the third period to take a 2-1 lead.

Not sure that the second was completely warranted, but oh well.

Kenny's shoulder was still an issue as well, though he did have a couple of nice attacks in the first period that he couldn't quite finish amidst a scramble.

Damn Borge had a close match with Mendoza 8-3
And Borge had 3 before they gave Mendoza 3. He was behind while in a quad pod and no points were awarded. And during the review they didn't go back that far . Borge corner held the brick and one they awarded points to Mendoza they threw it. I can see them saying you threw the brick to late but it was definitely 3 Borge

Regan had a good match with Mendoza also until late in 3rd. Don’t know what our chances are with Mcort kids with the Bassett influence in that program.

I was impressed, wasn’t familiar with him as Iowa kid, them announcers from Flo said he was a UNI recruit from Indiana, who moved to Iowa now to train with UNI. You see how easy that is Bo/Melvin.

Interesting that he’s won state titles in North Dakota and Indiana. And apparently he won’t be wrestling at an Iowa high school this season.
