I thought I would get this thread started 9 1/2 hours before the game starts.
Who do you think starts tonight? Niman or Moore?

I don't know enough about the beaver pitching staff to say what the "smart" move would be. If OSU has two really good starters and an iffy third, it might make sense to hold him. then again, I like trying to close this out with our best guy, so this is why ming makes the big bucks.

I was thinking they might go Niiman and save Moore for game 3 if needed?
I understand that before game one, Mingione didn't announce Pooser as the starter before he absolutely had to (about an hour before game time), so I would guess he will do the same tonight even if he has already made up his mind.

I think Mingione and the team knows who the starter is tonight.

I’m beginning to lean towards Moore tonight with the entire staff tomorrow if necessary.

Giving it away. Moore just couldn't finish the 1st 3 batters this inning (might have if a few actual strikes were called), and then his wheels fell off.

This game shows exactly why I still can’t have much confidence in this team. Pitching, while it can be good at times, is our biggest weakness. And our offense, while creative and scrappy, isn’t reliable enough. Also, we have to have the least scary 3 hitter in the country. Finally, Wal looks AWFUL at the plate. Not a good sign at all.

Let’s hope something with the bats and bullpen changes, as it’s not looking great at this point.

Yep if you followed team all year you know Moore struggles walking people
Didn’t expect the error from Smith
Thought Ming’s left Moore in two batters to many
Walldy pulling head on everything this pitcher is to good killing him with curve knowing he’s trying to pull everything

Tied 5th inning. Kinda glad you’re not in that UK dugout! lol

Walldy looking this lost shocks me. In all honesty we have one hitter who looks to have any confidence at the plate. Not great for our offense.

Damn I was out and couldn’t watch till now. I got on here first to see what was being said and I thought I was gonna turn it on and us be down 6-1 or something. It’s 2-2. We are still very much in it. OSU still has no hits, to go with the one hit from yesterday. Thats 14 innings of one hit baseball for the pitchers. Walks were an issue but O’Brien seems to have stopped that for the moment.

Oh I’m happy it’s tied. But our hitters look horrible yet we had a two run lead, and we gave that up without making OSU do anything. If we are going to be awful at the plate but have a lead, we can’t gift them runs.

I guess I’m just baffled we look this bad at the plate.

To be fair, they fouled off 14 2 strike pitches that inning.

And we still walked 5 dudes. UK is doing a lot of little things to lose this game (just popped up a bunt with zero outs and a man on second, for example). The execution on offense is really bad but we did have a lead. Unfortunately we gave that lead up w/out OSU doing anything other than fouling pitches off and taking bad pitches.

They threw 14 strikes with two strikes, ive never seen so many in one inning. Eventually something has to give. Throw one down the middle and let them pipe one over the wall or try and get them to chase/looking at a 3rd strike.

Oh I get it, but it doesn’t forgive the fact that we still walked 5 guys. A lot easier to make guys chase if you don’t spot them three balls first (and I will grant that some of the balls were close calls…. I wasn’t happy about those).

Man, our offense is tough to watch right now. Just look awful at the plate.
