Nice. Good arm, excellent accuracy and I like how he seems to have a good pocket presence and can throw on the run (and run some, when needed). He will need to learn how to follow through on his throws more consistently at the next level, as the windows will be tighter and will close faster. Also, this is a highlight film, meaning a grain of salt is generally required, but I like his potential.

is this who Al confirmed will be our starter in the Rose Bowl in 2025 ? How exciting ! Is hard to keep track of all his RU Heisman locks over the years, so if someone has a better Al recall than I, please advise

Wimsatt was leading us to the Big Ten Championship game.

2 years later, Ajani Shepard is going to take the starting role as a true freshman.

Then next year, true freshman Surace is going to take the job from previously great Spepard.

I think that's the timeline laid out?

Note - this isn't an Al specific thing. Just general thoughts from the majority of the fanbase it seems.
It wasn't Al who posted on the RT that Surace was going to break every Rutgers passing record.

One thing missing if this kid gets a chance to play here is the fact those WR's had lots of separation for hm to just lay it out there. When given time, he did step up look off and deliver a nice ball. QB's from NJ and Rutgers have had just a few successes, look no further than Ocean Twp HS Kenny Pickett, playing right under our nose, first Temple then Pitt took him away.We never even offered, criminal.

We seem to have a new Savior commit every year.

Kenny was undersized @ the time from what I gather and they had lines on better. Told a couple to look at his Dad and reconsider. What the hell do I know. Good kid, good family to boot.

Let's hope he's not starting in the Rose Bowl for USC.

Nothing personal with Surace, haven't watched him play at all.

Hot Take: Couldn't care less about HS QB rushing stats.
I'd rather recruit a QB with zero rushing TDs than 100.

At some point our QBs need to actually be passers.
Wasn't Jonathon Lewis going to be the best dual threat QB we ever had?
Except for that threat of "passing" which never developed (or never given an opportunity to develop but the OC Kill discussion is another thread).

People keep talking about Wimsatt needing to run to be effective. He was limited last year by injury. Was his arm limited? How about just get a QB who can be effective passing the ball? Regardless of rushing ability.

His ankle limited him in his ability to run but also his ability to plant.

We also did not have much offensive help to help him make easy throws.

IMO passing ability and quick thinking are the two most important and necessary attributes of a QB.

I think just about most qbs have enough mobility to be effective. A game breaker rushing the ball isn’t necessary just a bonus. A qb who can get 3-5 yds here and there to move the chains or buy a little extra time in the pocket is good enough as far as legs are concerned imo.

Surface’s strength is his passing ability

Agree and is my concern. Not with Surace.

Good start

Away on a short trip. Give credit for those into it. I’m a CFB fan but not easy to get up for some of those matchups. You guys are more hardcore than me lol. Thursday Utah/Florida in Utah and Nebraska/Minnesota I’m looking forward to seeing.

Sorry to burst any negative bubbles, but I think we show progress this year and watching Surace, I think he is the real deal. My bigger worry is someone else picks him off before signing day.

We are building a Monster Offensive Line, which will be in place by ‘25. The kids are already on the roster.

For now, we do the best, we can, with what we have.

Why don't you 2 take it outside and spare the rest of us.

some posters maintain recruits dont read these boards. Not referring to your post, but hope Surace does not read this thread. Some real losers feel the need to take a positive thread about our QB recruit and turn it into negativity.

It’s OK as long as Surace counts to Mississippi four and then yells “I dont want to do this” before he takes off running.

Watching Surace yesterday, he had plays where he delivered an accurate ball with defenders hanging on to him. If we want to run an RPO, there were plays where Surace faked the handoff, ran to the line of scrimmage and than fired it out in the flat to WR. All signs point up.
