No contest, the coach will play kids at different spots to get a better idea of how to proceed and let the ones hurt take time off of full contact to heal. Just my opinion which means nothing anymore.

This game has no benefit to SC other than a good gate when they host. They need to drop Mayberry and pick up South Stokes, North Iredell, West Iredell, one one of those metro charters. Granted they don't travel well.

Surry Central had Alleghany beat 28 to 14 with less than 4 minutes to go. Alleghany scored twice and went for two with 2 seconds left on the clock.
They recovered an onside kick off that everyone in four counties knew was coming and did not change their receiving team by even one person.
Mt Airy in a walk over unless they are smart and let their varsity players rest and heal. I am pretty sure the second team and jv will handle Surry Central easily, no offense to our neighbors to the south. Just stating what I think is the facts.

After watching East Surry tonight Mt Airy has a good team to hold them to 14 last week. It could come down to Mitchell and the Bears again

MA needs to seriously think about replacing Surry Central on the schedule. They haven't given MA nothing but a good practice for years. And it don't make sense considering the talent and success of other teams in the area.

Something I have related many times over the past several years is rural schools have a harder time getting their players out than basically city schools. The second thing I have said is that coaching staffs can make or break programs.
Surry Central is a rural school but not an extreme rural school like say North Iredell. If SC can play basketball and baseball they should be able to play football. While every one of the SC football coaches are great guys, I mean top notch, but if they want to be competitive in football the coaches need to change.

Coach Holder coached at Surry Central before coming to Mount Airy. That shows what a good coach can do when he has the players to have winning seasons and go deep in the playoffs.

Doesnt take a good coach to do way better with way better talent. Almost any coach can do that. Holder was a great coach indeed. Almost as good as Grissom from Elkin 80's-Early 2000's, who did waaaaay more with waaaaaay less. Now thats the best coach in the last 30 yrs in Wilkes, Surry, or Yadkin...and it ain't close.

Them winning that one in '02 with 17 or 18 kids on the roster or something else. And to an extent in '03 but they had those kids from East Wilkes. He did more with less a lot of times. That year they beat robbinsville when they had no business doing it what was that 07 was a hell of a coaching job. Holder was a fantastic coach as well. He didn't always have superior talent. He built.

Grissom didn't have many players but to say he did more with less? He had all star teams with kids from East Wilkes and Starmount. Kelly and MA beat him one of the years he won state. Grissom was great coach but Kelly was right up their.
