Lost in some of this- We’ve had chances to essentially seal some of these close games- but we’ve missed free throws! Jones needs to knock those downs last night. ABSOLUTELY HAS GOT TO

W1 you are spot on.....However that's about the only negative takeaway from Tre's game last nite. Without his HUGE PERFORMANCE, we're not in a position to close it out.

However I DO UNDERSTAND YOUR POINT, and its very valid. We do need more conversions at the line to close teams out!

yeah we gotta start hitting them. We also need to just shove the ball into the paint every possession and force the refs to start calling them. We haven't been getting to the line much at all lately, which was a strength of ours, even if we weren't shooting well we got to the line while not fouling much at all, we have to get back to that.

Agreed Shatter. It almost seems when Zion establishes himself on low block and we get him ball good things happen for us majority of the time!

Virginia Tech did a pretty good job on Zion last night, all thing being equal. Their anticipation was very good and I thought at times we got him the ball a hair too late. I’ve noticed that when defenses get to Zion quick, the refs are more prone to not calling the fouls. VT was fouling last night, but they made it look a few times like Zion was out of control. It’s actially the best way to guard him.

And yes, free throws. Ugh. It’s amazing how Marques calmly steps up there and seemingly always knocks them down. Our guards just can’t. Incredibly frustrating.

Hokie has mentioned it several times on the podcast but it’s a tall task for teams to learn a new style of defense in such a short period of time. Teams do not generally pack the paint as tight as they can. I think that’s even more relevant in these late weekend games. It’s one thing to have a few days of practice, Michigan St has to prepare for us in 1 day. I think we’ll have an easier go of things offensively tomorrow. Not easy, but easier.

I think our toughest games are behind us. Well not toughest but you know what I mean. I feel more confident against any team left than I did against the last 2 teams we faced. We own Izzo. Gonzaga is a revenge game if they win. The other side isnt scaring me at all. I think we got a little lucky at the right time in this tournament and we’re going to unleash the dogs on the rest of the teams in our path!

I hope you're right man!! I definitely agree that the other side of the bracket isn't scary. Neither UVA or UK have looked great and quite honestly both could be gone before the FF.

They obviously didn't close great. I believe they were up 7 with under three minutes and in their last four offensive possessions they were missed shot, charge, missed shot, missed front end of a one-and-one, or something similar. But there is a resilience there that is invaluable.

Also remember, Jones, Barrett and Zion all played 38+ minutes.
