The former Governor of Jakarta is in jail for two years. His crime? Blasphemy against Islam. Yes, really. And Indonesia is a moderate Muslim country. I think Indonesia has more Muslims than any other country.
Some people just go all the way to outright bigotry against Muslims as people and of course I want no part of that. But just because some people do that it doesn't mean there isn't a problem with the current state of the Muslim world. There aren't only the two positions of (a) outright bigotry against Muslims as people on one hand and (b) letting any Muslim do anything without complaint for fear of being called an Islamophobe on the other hand. We have to (a) find good ethical principles (and I think we've found them in classic liberalism) and (b) apply them equally to everybody.
